That’s what we did, slightly upped the BTU total and based it on 60 (IIRC) but then also insulated/changed glazing on top of that.
Also made it 22mm to all but the last rad on the loop.
Didn’t get into calculating it properly but figured by the time we are forced/allowed to have a heat pump the spec would certainly be good enough. -

A relative had their Daikin ASHP system installed by British Gas for ~£1.5K all in
That's interesting, I didn't realise it could be that cheap.
-
• #1754
Don’t forget the £7.5K free money.
-
• #1755
OK. To put it another way I assumed it was all well north of that.
-

I’m just struggling to see how going via how much stuff costs and the what the grant actually gives you in term of like for like. Considering ASHP uses a lot more kit than stay a combi system.

I detailed what each quote entailed a few posts up.
A system boiler needs the same amount of gubbins as a heat pump (UVC, diverters etc).
Again, don’t forget about the £7.5K grant!
How much would you quote for a complete Vaillant system boiler with 250l Vaillant tank and weather compensating sensoCOMFORT controllers, entirely new plumbing from scratch etc?

New to this thread. Just had an air source heat pump fitted by Octopus. Doesn't appear to be working entirely correctly as the hall thermostat temp isn't triggering a kick in for heating. Top heating temp registered so far is 19c. Hot water temp seems ok. I really don't understand how this shit works and please no-one say it's a fridge in reverse as I have that in bold letters on my heat pump bingo card.

I would call octopus. Pretty sure they have some kind of guarantee and should be sending someone out to take a look.

Which type of unit have you got, Daikin or Cosy 6?
If it’s configured to run in pure weather compensation mode (which it ought to be), then there is no concept of a ‘thermostat’, the heat pump modulates itself according to the outdoor sensor and the weather compensation curve set in the controller.
If you’re not reaching your desired indoor temperature, then you’ll need to adjust the weather compensation curve in the controller.
But yes, call Octopus, it’s their job to do all of this for you.

Thanks, the guys are here now but of course they need a 'part' and it's 'on order' they are now saying that the sensor in question (fitted this week with the system) 'may' have been second hand... FFS!

It's the Daiken. Thanks for the explanation. I have to say the control panel is funky but it's all a bit Campag atm

“ Top heating temp registered so far is 19c”
Our boiler is broken and it’s not dropped below 20° even at night! Are you in Scotland or somewhere that gets a bit of weather? -

Exactement. it'll be reserved for Hipster Heating in 20 yrs time, sitting next to their 'vinyl' player

Belper Derbyshire, it's hardly Siberia. I keep staring at the thermostat temp willing it to rise. On the upside if you want outside aircon to chill your drinks this is the product for you

Surely that's a woodburner
-
• #1773
Woodburners are fixies, they've had their time. air source heat pumps are gravel and I currently have that same "why?" in my head about them

Woodburners are fixies
simple, even comforting while evocative of an older, simpler time but ultimately bad for your health
Interesting hearing all the costings/thoughts. My quote was/is £9k, admittedly this is an early estimate but includes the govt grant, through Heatgeeks. Now the Solar is finally done, commissioning today! I would like the HP done at the same time as we have all the floors up, so looking at spring next year.
