I've always been O-Chain curious, but from what I gather pedal kickback all but disappears once the wheel is rolling fast enough. I don't ride particularly fast but do ride very rough steep stuff with big compressions; I think maybe twice I've noticed what I assume is kickback.

It's not just kickback from the freehub, but tension from the chain flapping up and down.

Like I said, I'd be interested to ride one to see if I noticed it. I keep looking for second hand ones to try but not in a rush.
I'm starting to imagine a bike with all these extra bits that are supposed to fix the inherent issues of bikes; O-Chain, eThirteen freehub, Padmelon, etc. and it feels like you'd end up with the car Homer Simpson designs.

The cutout on the spider is the wrong way round- rings are fine.

Dropping to lower tooth count ratchets in your DT hub is probably the easier route to a similar effect, no?

no idea why I got a duplicate post

As mentioned above, lower hub engagement does nothing for the fact that your chain will be flapping around on impact. Products like STFU are probably a cheaper way to test it, or even cheaper: remove your chain for a run or two.

Just seen that Rimpact have released something similar too. We'll all be riding them by 2025.

I spoke with O-Chain via their web-chat function and they said that it might work, but I'm on my own with it (O-Chain R unit, not the older one that they made that is compatible with Cane Creek cranks).

Don't Williams Racing do a DT kit that disengages the hub and eliminates kick back?
Can't say I've ever noticed it TBH, probs not going fast enough, or big enough.

Got my 411 innerbarend thingies. Does everyone mount them next to the grips? Sticking them there, assuming they don't foul the brake lever/shifter mounts might actually still allow use of the brakes when on the innerbarends. I guess you could go really inward for more aero but this is a Surly Ogre - it ain't built for speed.

I go a little inwards

After buying from them once it's not an experience I am enthusiastic about repeating.
-

I guess another option is to simply match road bar width and not worry about brake levers so much.

The winning run at women's Rampage was so gnarly.

Brendog's bike control is just insane.

Tom Isted's bike control is just insane.
And his underpants are ruined.

That canyon jumped looked so sketchy. Almost impossible to manage the speed into the landing.

Had to turn Rampage off, fair play to the riders but some terrible judging.

I was just pleased Brendan stuck his run, (and back flipped the canyon). I think one of the commentators said it, he just made it look too easy and routine.

Think it's more he is in a different competition to everyone else. Most other lines were pretty sculpted, but the tricks are nuts. That front flip drop was bonkers.
But bren is the only one going off the side of that cliff and you can't even see where his line is. Also, the jump onto the rock and the drop off it were not that 'hard'. The key was the insane building ability to first see it, and then craft the perfect near vertical kicker. Then add on that while not that hard, it's mega exposed and that should count for a lot more. And it just looks amazing and is different.
Rampage has become the biggest test for the slopestyle crowd - so that's still something, but it's a shame that true freeride has been priced out. If he doesn't get invited back next year (only the top 8 guaranteed) then freeride rampage is over I think.

I think he'll be sad he wasn't graded higher in the comp - but for him, he remains a fan favourite. In terms of content creation, no one is even close to Bren, Olly and Deaks. And the mountain bike community lap it up. Sponsors dream. I'm sure he'll be doing ok when the contracts need renewing. Wouldn't be surprised if we see him back there next year.
No it won't work, but O-Chain make a Cane Creek version
