Out of interest - how much does loft boarding out etc cost?

Maybe its put through a few business and he's not vat registered or he does mostly small stuff or cash jobs.

It's done by the square meter - I've a decent size loft and they're charging me £2300 for the lot, done in two days max, with boards that can hold 500kg per square meter. I'll share some pics if useful, I'm not quite sure what to expect.

We had twenty square metres of boarding, ladder, new light and new door/hatch to replace the existing one for just under £1,450 all in at the end of last year.

Wasn’t that much more than buying the bits myself, so was an absolute no brainer to get people in that actually know how to do it!

Can anyone recommend a decent plumber/installer for fitting a new combi boiler in the south London area? I’d rather get a recommendation because trying to pick one out from checkatrade etc is such a minefield. Ta.

Had these guys come out to diagnose a boiler problem last week. Good service, nice guys. They are busy fitting boilers this week but I can recommend them on the basis of my experience.

I used Rhodes plumbing in crystal.palace before, for exactly this. would recommend them. The price was fair and the service was top.

That looks fantastic - I had real concerns about gaps at the edges and stuff falling down the back, but they've made that super tight to the edge. I'm so excited about this. Really appreciate the link.

We had a new pressurised hot water tank put in by a two guy business called HeatingOn last year, and they did an incredibly tidy job. I swear the house was cleaner after they left than it was before they started. Honestly, the tidiness of the pipe work they did around the hot water tank is incredible.

Mine (also with Ideal loft ladders) was much less tight to the edges (maybe due to being an older property) so you might want to check with them what they'll be doing.

Anyone got any more recommendations? I'm going to be looking for someone to fit my kitchen, probably a little tile work as well. We'll likely go to Howdens to get the units, so apparently need a fitter before we go through their design.

Pondering having the path and yard bit of the front of the house sorted (it is currently very crazy paving) but have hit decision paralysis.

Tiles options are these. Was intending to go black and white:

but then the builder threw a curve ball suggesting these

Will be wandering the streets to look at a few he's done to get a better idea on the tiles but one area where I'm struggling is what to have the area in front of the bay paved with. The guy has suggested silver grey sandstone with the black and white or black porcelain (which are expensive and I'm not sure about) with the coloured.

Can't see the rest of your house for matching but I agree with your builder.

Also think that in 10, 20 years if it fades / gets some slight grubbiness the colour will look nicer / more interesting than just b&w

There's a house up the road from me that I'd love (if I found a spare £2.5m down the back of the sofa) that has a hallway like that (see pic 4).

That is an insane amount of money for that house (coming from someone who lives nowhere near London), I struggle to compute. Can someone explain why it is suggested as being worth that much...

All good! It just blows my mind. I don't know/understand enough about the area and what people are willing to pay to live in a fairly mediocre house that looks like you'd need to spend A LOT on it (that's subjective of course).
