I went over by a few weeks last time I did it. Kicked only myself (because lets be fair, this is how these things almost always work - rightly or wrongly) and went to cancel. Got an automatic message saying that because I hadn't used Prime since I went from trial membership to paid, that I would be refunded automatically. 8/10 would cancel again.

I do use it (I find buying from Amazon and delivered to the office easier than attempting to nip to the shops at lunch or something, I suspect Amazon are making a loss on me) and one thing to note is that if they screw up the next day delivery and it doesn't arrive then if you complain they'll usually extend your Prime membership by an extra month.

Same happened to me. Was quite annoyed with myself, and then quite pleased that they did that.
Just signed up to another trial (6 months) for free shipping on a 17 quid pair of insoles. Taking a look the video service to see if maybe it's actually worth it.

^btw, that was a bump to see if anyone thinks it's actually worth it.

I use it was pretty good to start with but now finding the next day delivery thing is often more like 2 days. Still if you have other family members they can benefit from the prime delivery. I do like the video service now you can download stuff to watch later.
Also fair play to them if they do balls up they are happy to extend membership by a month.

You can go into your prime subscription options on Amazon and switch off auto renewal.
I always do this straight after signing up for the free prime trial.
I also stick a reminder in my phone calender for the day before the trial ends to make sure it won't renew.

Cheers! Just did this.

This seems like best place to ask this.
I bought a saddle from amazon last night, it was £22.01 with free uk shipping.
I had the one click checkout thing enabled do when I clicked to buy it there was no option for different shipping methods.
I was charged £4.75 for shipping.
I didn’t notice this until this morning, I contacted the seller and they say they do not offer free shipping but the saddle is still available (albeit at a higher price) with ‘free uk shipping’.
The one in that link says it’s from a seller called ‘bikemadness’ but my order seems to be from ‘vonderpallete fulfilled by Amazon’.
I’m 110% sure it said free uk shipping when I bought it.
My mistake or Amazon/Vonderpallete being dicks?

When in doubt, complain to Amazon. They'll likely issue a refund for the difference.
-

The problem tends to be the lowest price displayed isn't always the one "fulfilled by Amazon" as they also have a marketplace of sellers.
The free delivery may be attributed to a different product.
The 1-click buying is bullshit -

The 1-click buying is bullshit
It was this, 1-click bypasses the offer of free postage and sets a default of 'standard postage' which, in this case, was chargeable.
I have now disabled 1-click.
They are "...as an exception..." refunding what I was charged for postage.

Have these cunts made it mandatory to use Prime now?
I deselected the "use prime" things and the cunting checkout has no option other than starting a Prime trial. WTF Bezos? Get fucked you fucking space dildo.

Get fucked you fucking space dildo.
...yet you're still going to spend your money there?
-
• #15
Yes. Unfortunately they're the only cunts selling what I need.
-
• #16
That must be the only product available on Amazon that isn't available elsewhere. Is it a kindle?
-
• #17
It's Jassy who is the space dildo these days.
There is a way to buy it without prime, it's just incredibly small text "no thanks" next to big nice looking buttons that accept the trial.
You can cancel it from your account with little hassle so you don't get charged after the trial. And you will continue to have the prime benefits for the full 30 days anyway.
Yeah, it is incredibly annoying. I really wish they wouldn't do it. I'm sure they've done loads of checking to make sure they're just the right side of the law on this, but it does feel like it shouldn't be legal.

Saying that, just picked up an AMD Ryzen 5700x3D for £161 which is quite a bit cheaper than it has been for ages anywhere else (been keeping an eye on prices).

I think one of the items must've been some Prime special or something. Even once I'd fucked it off and redone it, the Prime things were still in the checkout bar on the side but the postage was free because of price not because of it not taking note of me telling it to fuck Prime off.
I might use my content blocker to fuck off their stupid Prime things.
Then again, I don't have TV now so maybe I should just bite the bullet and pay the idiots. Does it make any AWS shit cheaper?
-

Nope, sadly doesn't give you any discounts on AWS stuff 😕

Thanks. Was worth thinking about for 10s at least.
If you've ever bought anything from Amazon and opted for next day delivery (or words to that effect), you've signed yourself up to a free trial of Amazon Prime.
This reverts to full membership after 99 days, and you get charged £79 a year, which is taken straight off whatever credit card is in their records. You don't get a confirmation email telling you you're a member of anything, and you don't get a reminder email telling you they are about to charge you.
Apparently I've been a member of amazon prime since september 2012, although I have no recollection of ever even signing up for the trial. It's only because twitter has gone bonkers over it this evening that I bothered to log in to amazon and check my account settings.
To be fair, they were pretty helpful on the phone. There is a bit in the "contact us" section on the website where you can put your telephone number in and they ring you straight away. They have promised to refund me £79, but that only covers one year. I may have to push them a bit harder.
God knows how many people have been blindly paying for this stuff. Check your account settings!
