Glad a few of you were able to take advantage of the lights - they seem to be sold out now, good work.

Sadly so many details were badly thought-through with that reissue: geometry, dropouts, decal size and position etc. It's a great price for what it is, but too many compromises for full-on Raleigh fans.

Had to double check but yes it is merely an evocation, cables for example have a total different path, and rear drop out are not driller campagnolo Catena ones, Maxway taiwan made, etc. but still 753.

But such an evocation for this price is simply amazing! And it has been nicely upgraded to 10s! Wonder how they sourced that many Veloce rear derailleurs!

Yes not a replica, but a very cool bike and a steal for the price!

All the other steel "replica", Wilier (superleggera), de Rosa (accaio), Bottechia (legendaria), or even Colnago or Battaglin, are also not accurate replica with often a lower tubing set and prices are in a different league.

1,250 for a replica is not a steal, you could probably get something similar if not better at a bike jumble.

Replicas aren’t all about value… if you happen to be a 54 year old who had a Raleigh Europa in TI colours as their first racer when they were 12 that bike appeals.
I do think they have done it badly it falls between being a replica and a modern homage

I agree that 1,250 might be better used on the 2nd hand market, but on the market for something new a Trek Domane ALU with Tiagra is GBP 1700.

However agree with @Dibble that the positioning with downtube shifters and non aero brake levers is too close from a replica, while the frame and groupset is a modern homage.

Rim brake Domane is £750 and that Raleigh was supposed to be £2500 with out the fire sale.

Evans Norwich have Brompton spares and parts in the sale bins. Single speed tensioners for £6, reamers of different sizes £5< fork holder kit £2…… I’m informed all their shops should have whatever as they are al having a Brompton sort out.

They were the 6mm 6.1mm hinge ones, not the post ones. Should I go and grab them tomorrow? Oh there were hinge pins as well.

still the case, evans would only have had them in deep quantities because they don't last long. tbh im surprised all that stuff hadnt been sold before, they were being pulled up on it all the time back when i worked at brompton and that was quite a while ago now

Why would someone want aluminium over carbon steerer? (or the other way around)
Real innocent question, don't know the pros and cons of each or which setup make you choose one over the other.

Most people wouldn’t, but my partner decided they’d rather not worry about over tightening a stem on a carbon steerer (after we found some marks on her current fork when we bought her a second hand bike)

So this turned up and was 499 less spokes than expected. Appears to have been a listing error and has now been amended.

LOL !!! Thank your lucky stars you are not in the US, it's become Hip to quote long distances in "klicks", to prove that you "served", and yet workshop mechanics are still quoting 7/64 of an inch. Metric threads are just so damn good in steel and ally ! Did you know that the Crystal Palace was the first place to introduce standard threads ;-)
