He'd disappeared by the time my race had finished though.

Unfortunately I had to be elsewhere but managed a walk round most of the course while the women were racing.
Along with my pithy encouragement to your good self I had to grab a flailing tape to allow riders to pass under on the dodgy lower corner so feel I did my bit for grassroots racing :-)
