Greetings am currently in Annecy itself and did one ride yesterday including semnoz and another climb to the southwest and will be doing one more this week prob on Thu. Strava seems to have shut down part of its rout builder and am struggling to out my finger on the ideal route so wondered if anyone could assist - would like something starting around annecy north shore of around 70-90km, with plenty of climbing - thinking an arpettaz forclaz combo perhaps? Anyone got any routes loaded up they could share? Thanks!

This one is a bit longer than you want but you could probably amend it

Nicest route out to Kent from Catford / Hither Green / Blackheath way? Tried a route last night after moving back to London but the traffic was insane

Are you looking to head into the East of Kent (Swanley/Knatts Valley way), or more South towards Star/Toys?
If the former then this is a nice loop. Essentially you're looking to head through Chislehurst/Petts Wood: https://www.strava.com/activities/7746365227
If more the latter then I'd do something like this: https://www.strava.com/activities/10322242135

Does anybody have a good off-road/gravel route out west towards Cirencester or Oxford? Looking to ride out to the in-laws tomorrow morning.

Has anyone cycle toured in Greece? My sister is thinking about it in November, but doesn’t seem to be a lot covered by any of the touring types I usually go to.

What's the best way to go between central London and Hoddesdon/Rye Meads? I usually go straight up the A10/1010 because it's the most straightforward, but the traffic gets a bit tiring. Went once following the River Lee but I recall there having been a lot of towpaths which slowed things down, and never did it again!

I do the towpaths from Leyton to Hertford a couple of times a year, it’s a lovely ride at a leisurely pace.
I wouldn’t be riding on the A10, the Hertford road is probably your best bet if you need a decent pace.

Hertford road
Yup that's the A1010 I was referring to. Looks like I've got to resign myself to it then! Last time I did the towpaths was on 25mm tires on my first long ride, so mayhap going back with 32s might inspire a bit more confidence.

The canal path has featured in the bike muggings thread a few times, particularly the stretch between Springfield park and Ferry lane. Worth bearing in mind if you're planning a trip on your pride and joy.

Thanks for the heads-up. Actually took the return trip on the canal path but was in the afternoon on a Sunday so it was nice cycle down; left the path at Markfield Park because I was heading into central London though! Turns out the reason why I didn't enjoy it the first time was the long unpaved stretches, but was a completely different experience with 32mm gravel tires and fixed (:

Anybody got a decent road route out of central London? Looking at riding back to the midlands on Saturday. No particular requirements other than heading in a general northerly direction and that I've been advised to pay a visit to Bread by Bike in N7.

I will be headed to the lake district with my partner who bike commutes but is not nearly as enthusiastic with cycling as I might be. We will be based in Windermere without a car and would like to get around and about to get to things - we have in mind particularly cycling to Coniston, which Google maps suggests involves a total of 150m of climbing over 17k, which seems eminently doable! Would bringing bikes be a good idea? Suggestions for places with nice walks within biking distance would be much welcome, bonus points if rock climbing can somehow be shoved in!
For those more familiar with cycling around the more popular areas in the lakes - last I remembered being there, the road (A591 I believe) was full at cars going full-on 40mph; do people generally feel safe cycling around the touristy parts of the lakes or is it a bit of a wild west?

I'm planning to cycle from sw London to brecon beacons, around a bit and then train back from maybe bristol. Will be over 2 days, leaving early Thursday morning and train back Friday evening. Does anyone have any route suggestions? Was thinking to get to Monmouth, sleep, around the hills and then back.

I would avoid cycling through England and just get the train to wales and spend more time cycling around Monmouth- which I have been doing this weekend. Lovely part of the world. Cycling here I would be boring - just the standard London > Bristol routes then over the river.

I'm heading up to Leicester to see the in-laws next week and will of course try to get out on my bike as often as possible to avoid them. Anyone have any decent gravel routes I could try?

I'm up in Hay on Wye in a couple of weeks time, has anyone got any good road or gravel rides?
I'm planning a Wales escape for early May. I was hoping to ride the Black Mountains, off road. So Llanbedr - Waun Fach - Hay Bluff - Offas Dyke. Will it be appalling if at all wet? I'm keeping Cwm carn in the back pocket for if it doesn't dry out.... Any experience of what the tracks/paths/trails are?
