You may be aware but this site will track books or authors and email you when below a certain price. Very useful for non urgent books

If you buy books from amazon it's effortless. You do it on your kindle or from another device and it downloads to your Kindle (when it's connected to Internet). Or they have a subscription package, that looks like decent value if you read a lot.
If you borrow them from the Internet it's a bit more involved. But if you put a bit of effort into setting up calibre it's not too hard. In case you haven't used calibre it's a bit like an old school iTunes to iPod. You have all your ebook files in a folder, that links to your calibre library, which has a nice layout and filtering options, you then you send your book to your device.
But yeah, I still think having a dedicated e-reader is really nice with a different use case to tablets/phones.
