  • Noted! I think we have pretty similar tastes so I'll definitely add it to the list. Not clever but fun is perfect for midweek, brain off time.

    Tonight's viewing was Sideways by Alexander Payne. I remember watching it not long after it came out with my parents and was definitely too young to enjoy it then. Much better on a second watch 10ish years later. Paul Giamatti is great in it. The Holdovers by the same director is even better though.

  • Sideways is great, not least if you are eating out and anyone asks what you’d like you say “I’m not drinking any fucking Merlot”, even better if it’s somewhere nice with the wine waiter in attendance (note that I have never done this anywhere but wish I could dare to be great, just once noting that in my scenario the wine waiter acknowledges the reference with a nod so subtle that only I notice it. But not so subtle that it never happened)
