I thought he was going to ditch his MTB program for a year or two, in order to focus solely on the road?

Oh I hadn’t heard that. You may be right.

Still I wouldn’t go there to focus on a road career! Feels like a late-Sagan era move.

Perhaps he’s that desperate to get out of Ineos and Red Bull aren’t ready?

He said as much after the Olympics, I think.

I think you're right in that this has been selectively leaked by Pidcock's management to force an offer elsewhere. He can't be that desperate, surely?
