  • lol, I had in mind the brass counter sunk eyelets to use with slotted screws, instead of hiding the fixings

  • Can you explain to me in plain English what the difference is? The chap I’ve been talking to at a supplier said hydro is mr MDF with a denser layer on each side. When you leave it in light it fades less. But if you oil mr MDF it becomes darker, but then fades back to factory after awhile, rinse and repeat. Is he bullshitting me to get a sale? Ultimately you will only see one end of each run and a few bits of each cubby/shelf. I’m over thinking this aren’t I¿
Think I’ll have a go at the magazine holder style Brompton boxes first.

  • Haha! I’d be going rebates and seamless

  • In short, it sounds like you've got it, being moisture resistant has no real relevant factor for its use and especially as you're sealing it.. even a small amount of work is a lot of faff - there in using the material you want (and finishing product) will make it worthwhile

  • i want these for our new kitchen cabinets but my wife is not a fan as she thinks they are dated. She wants minimal black profile pulls and IMO those a just a bit boring...

Is she right? I'm not at all up with interior design trends...

Edit: last pic is not my kitchen - just for illustration

  • I wouldn’t pair them with white cupboards, what colour will the casework be?

  • Reed green (matt)

    like this

  • I was gonna stick this colour in my new place but I think ive went off it but I was gonna do the top units like wooden colours to the green bottoms.

  • It has the advantage of already being dated, rather than being dated in 5yrs time.

As you're not going to win this one anyway I'm going to say that you're right.

That way you can use this post to console you when you're looking at black handles in a years time.

  • We've used a fake wood effect on the cabinets for the island and reed green for everything else and it worked really well! You're welcome to pop round and have a look

i will say the photos don't really do it justice - a bit nicer IRL

  • thanks hugo, i appreciate this

  • Could a brass or stainless steel be an option. I like the wood just not sure on the shape but then not sure what the overall aesthetic/design of kitchen will be like

  • Also they look like they could be slightly a pita to open heavier doors with?

  • I like the combo - dated or not is moot to me, just try to separate instalife from your day to day reality.

  • can't help thinking they've been badly placed in the white kitchen, a sample one or two can help set the decision

  • Guess which one of me and my wife uses Instagram 😁

  • Thoughts and prayers.

  • Looking for pendant lights for my dining table. Set of 3.

I want something that is ceramic/marbled/imperfect. With texture (either actual or implied through the design)

A bit like this but less sterile/mono

    Any suggestions?

  • Just ordered one of these for the front room

Now the wait for delivery !!

  • looking for a modern (read cheaper option) for an anglepoise adjacent table clamp lamp. Seen a couple of vintage ones on ebay, but wondering if there's decent modern versions which aren't too pricey, have wider range of bulb options/dimmers on them.
Let me know if any come to mind before I get drawn into a bidding war on ebay.
Should say does ideally need to clamp to the desk rather than stand on it.
    Thanks

  • IKEA do a clamp on Anglepoise knock off for like £30 but not sure on the dimmer/bulb options

  • IKEA do a desk clamp design. Just make sure it had a E14 or E27 base and there's tons of bulb options. Unlikely you'll find a dimmer on anything that isn't integral LED, you could wire in an inline dimmer but the beaut of an Anglepoise design is light levels can be adjusted by moving the head up and down. Normally when I'm at my desk I rotate the head against the wall and just have soft indirect light.

  • Not sure if they do a desk clamp but it looks like the John Lewis one detaches from the base.
I assume you could get a generic clamp for the desk.

  • I'm selling this shelving unit if anyone fancies it?

  • Has anyone had any experience with bamboo roller blinds from here https://colorandco.co.uk ? Or does anyone have recommendations for similar from elsewhere? (I can't tell if colorandco are just reselling the ebay/amazon type blinds .... "Bespoke or custom blinds are constructed with hand by our production team in our London production facility and shipped domestically within UK" could be interpreted cynically as "standard sizes are imported, bespoke/custom are the same but cut to size on site")
