I always just bought the cheap ceramic ones from ebay. Nothing larger than a 12 tooth though

This assumes that bike shops list dimensions rather than 'fits...' (which never includes etap red 22). Thanks for the predictable tester answer though 👍

So on non etap red I used to use the tacx ceramic ones, are they the same size?
Comme ça? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352181133477

Thanks, figured as much!
Just wanted to give them a spin for a big ride this weekend.

Any suggestions for a replacement for x-sync 2 1x 46 tooth chainring?
Been looking at wolftooth but no options.

Thanks @coventry_eagle and @gbj_tester

Not sure if the cage on etap is any different, but mechanical Red 22 can take 12t top / 14t bottom no dramas. I got some narrow/wide ones, they seem to work pretty nice.

AFAIK red 22 etap or not should use the same pulleys.

Ah mega thank you.

Can anyone advise on loose ball bearings. I am looking for 5/32 for a headset service but not sure which grade to get (does it matter)? Also, where is a good place to get loose ball bearings?
-
• #7537
The smaller the grade the better the polish. Grade 10 is plenty enough for a headset, and there’s good sellers on eBay that sell small pouches or larger mixed boxes if you’re interested.

Great, thanks. Although when I search for 5/32" bearings all I see is grade 100 - will these do?

Incredibly niche question but does anybody know what length bottom bracket I would need to line up a Miche Primato crankset with a 6 bolt cog on a flipped shimano mtb rear hub? Or any way of working it out? I don't currently have a square taper bb to test and measure
-
• #7540
@gbj_tester should at least know the measurements for a 6-bolt mounted sprocket 👍
-
• #7541
Yes, should be fine for a headset. They should be nice and shiny when they arrive; anything else and they’re either faulty or not grade 100.

Any "good" solution for dropping a brake caliper by ~4mm. Have a Long Drop Shimano rear brake on a 650b conversion which is just too short, and don't really want to go to the super long drop options. Front is Disk so no issues there

Never tried these, but as an alternative to filing your calliper arms:

You need to find the ‘disc line’ for your hub, actually your hub standard (135mm qr I presume?) as it should be a set thing. Probably measured from the inside face of the dropout so you’ll have to some maths to work out what the chain line from the centre of the hub would be.
You can do the googling and maths.

Leads me to these which don't look totally sketchy

Have you built the wheel yet?
This set up is in essence what I use. The front hub conversion is just that, a conversion so needs axle spaces to fit rear. Therefore I put hub in frame with sprocket on and play with spacers until I have got a straight line. I found this easier than trial and error axles lengths, plus non square taper don’t give you a choice anyway.
The sprocket can also be spaced out by washers 1 mm at a time to fine tune if ever needed
Actually the main reason for me using 6 bolt over screw on is exactly this - tuning rear to fit front
Hope this helps -

Isn't grade ten the best? Have read that campag use grade 25 in their wheels and headset but no idea if true.
Grade 100 should be ok, if the headset has brindled, you can use slightly larger balls to help solve that problem.@timages try simply bearings ;) if you want postage or if you are in north London belts and bearings in north london

.
Count the teeth, measure the bores, buy something which matches.
