  • ^ those are even better - are the Oliver Sweeney too?

    sole looks like Morflex

    https://www.vibram.com/uk/technology/lifestyle/TECH_Morflex.html

  • Yeah looks like that Morflex. Only says Vibram on the spec sheet
    https://www.oliversweeney.com/products/ballabeg-burgundy-boots#

  • and @ChasnotRobert, nope, the Morflex always is written on the bottom. I have both and recommend the Morflex for more cushion and grip, despite being shorter lived than the straight up Cristy.

  • Are these Cristy then ? I've never had Morflex for comparison. But these feel nicely cushioned and I'm happy they clean up nicely despite being off white and looking porous almost sponge like on the sides of the sole. The only slight negative is wet grip isn't great.

  • What about that place in Orpington that do all the redwing stuff? I’m planning on jumping on the train and having all my boots/shoes done but will have to wait as getting 4 pairs of Goodyear welted shoes/boots resoled at once is not exactly cheap.

  • Those will be Cristy/Christy yep.

  • Speaking of Vibram, I got these Oak Street Field boots in CXL Roughout last week and they already look like this after 2 days of wear which I’m stoked on - admittedly while wearing brand new jeans. Love this sole. Really comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The last they’re on is superbly comfortable for wide forefeet.

  • Nice, relatively snug in the heel?

  • Very snug in the heel - in a good way - and wide in the forefoot without looking too wide IMO. I think the proportions are pretty good.

I wear an EE in everything if it exists, and given these aren’t and don’t come in a wide, I was pleased. Wouldn’t be stoked on full retail but paid $372 delivered which felt decent for MiUSA CXL.

  • Excellent report, too bad I’ve no current needs : (

  • These have just arrived after the full twenty week wait.

William Lennon 157 hill shoes but without the tongue overlay and with a semi-sprung last rather than the standard full.
Seem comfortable straight from the box and solid - really solid. I think if you hit someone with one you could kill them they are that heavy.

  • What's the use case for those bad boys? Post village agricultural show kickings?

  • Kind of remind me of Lancashire clog shoes used for delivery of ale t’ pubs

  • No real need but i justified them to myself that they’d be useful for strolling around rural Kerry in - as opposed to my dunlop wellingtons or screwfix boots.

I have some of there boots and they are a very tough bit of kit but comfortable, proper craftsman made shoes.

  • If carrying a bag of asphalt your always ready to fill in a pothole

  • Is it possible to stretch a heel? One of my shoes is putting some pressure on my right outer heel. There’s no blister but if I wore them for long enough it would hurt.

  • Additional packing around a shoe tree is what I go for

  • I’ve never owned a shoe tree.

I’ve also got some desert boots which I had resolved. They’re a chocolate brown colour but a little faded, is there anything I can put on them to boost the colour back to original

  • If shoes don't fit then I think you're probably fighting a losing battle. Opinions may differ but I cant stand uncomfortable shoes (pun intended). I'd sell and buy a pair that fit.

Glad to hear you resolved the desert boot issue though.

  • They are closest I’ve come to a comfortable pair of shoes. Brogues especially seen to be awkward with my awkward feet.

They are suede-ish so would polish work? Would have thought some kind of dye.

  • desert boots that are suede surely like a dylon or something that is colour matched but without seeing them pretty hard to say!

  • Suppose affectivity having maniquin feet to put in shoes is a bit weird , pushing the pressure point out with the back of a spoon may relieve it (could take ages)
