  • It was. I thought you’d ignore it to be honest.

It's been a tough week off the pitch. 🍣😫

  • They're missing their best creative player though in Odegaard, he makes a massive difference for them.

They are crying out for a proper decent striker though.

  • I actually think City will have the book thrown at them. And I’m not sure how I feel about that - it’s probably justified, but it makes a bit of a mockery of all the seasons it affects.

I’ve been really impressed by Arsenal this season and when Ødegaard returns, that’ll take them up a notch.

United aren’t winning the league any time soon, so if MissNumbers’ team can win then I’ll take that.

  • On a semi serious note what was Jesus signed for? Surely not to nail him to the cross?

He was decent enough in his first season when Arteta was trying to adapt by signing players who were used to playing Pep-ball, but his (and Zinchenko's) main contribution seems to have been to help change the mentality of the squad rather than their contribution on the pitch. I guess you could say also he was signed as a transition player from Lacazette until they could sign a more proven goalscorer (still arguably pending). Apart from Palmer and maybe Porro I don't think many players have kicked on since they left City under Pep?

  • we all want city and pep in league 1 it would be brillaint to see him and city turn up at Crawley Town

But i think it will be points deduction slap on the wrist and carry on as normal

  • Ahem, they were Londoners rather than cockneys as most true cockneys would support West Ham.

  • Agree, it's less about the contenders and has been that way since the Pep run began. Liverpool needed to improve upon a 97 point season, it is incredible they did manage to do so. I hope to be wrong, but suspect Arsenal won't be third time lucky this season and although they'll run City close, they won't surpass 90 points. Their best hope is City being relegated or when Pep leaves.

  • I would have agreed with this before Rodri's injury. I genuinely think there's every chance they stumble this year, my bet is that the league will be won with less than 90 and quite possibly closer to 85. Arsenal can't have the ridiculous luck they've had recently re no injuries to their spine. Reckon we might be in for a close one, irrespective of points deductions etc.

  • Overall I’d say Liverpool have a the deepest squad strength outside of Man City. Teams will continue to bully or figure out a way to stop Arsenal one way or another. Prediction time I guess.

    1. Man City*
    2. Liverpool
    3. Arsenal
    4. Tottenham
    5. Newcastle
    6. Chelsea
  • FWIW, I think Man City's squad depth is way overstated - they have the best 1-15 players by quite some distance, but they do not have a 6th choice forward as good as Chiesa or a reserve 6 as good as Partey etc. What they do have is a small squad of insanely high quality and incredibly versatile players. Basically, Ake, Stones, KDB, Silva, Foden etc can play many positions to a very high level.

Anyway, if we're doing predictions, I'd agree with the above, except I would drop Spurs out of that entirely, put Chelsea 4th and Villa 6th.

  • As a Newcastle fan, I would bite your hand off for 5th. We have been shite so far!

@villa-ru isnt going to be happy!

  • @villa-ru is busy with the champions league.

  • I’d bite your hand off for fourth place and all.

  • The fuck?

Just seen this as I came in to celebrate a big European night at Villa Park. 1982 all over again but with added Kane diving for a penalty. @jaw - dead to me.

    Newcastle - lol.
    Chelsea - that's about right.
Spuds - might get 5th. Again.

  • Liam Delap has started well at Ipswich.

@tbc really enjoying their start to the season. Could not be expected to get anything from Liverpool or City games, but no panicing

  • Fuck it why not

    City
    Arsenal
    Liverpool
    Chelsea

  • Good to see refs in the CL are as shit as domestically.

  • It doesn't bode well for your side's chances of success in a season when you are bemoaning the standard of refereeing before the clocks have gone back.

  • Omggggggggggggggggg

  • Poor bloke obviously come all the way from Germany with a sniffy nose.

  • We'll be fine. But eg allowing Kane to rugby tackle a player with no card is ridiculous.

  • Arsenal
    Liverpool
    Villa
    Chelsea

*City out of the running due to punishment for #115 by points deducted or relegated
