I'm not saying he's perfect by any measure, and I agree that his recent work has been diminished by unnecessary hyperbole as moves are made in the race, but he's far superior to Kirby. The later is permanently baffled by what is going on and doubles down on errors all the time rather than recognising he'd misidentified a rider.
That and persevering with some erroneous strategic analysis or observation, all in the pursuit of being able to make one of his repetitive puns such as "and now they are waiting for (David) Gaudu" etc
