Actually ended up in the Golden Lion as the prince Albert had a function on.
The golden lion is a nice pub quiet and relaxed for a Friday evening pint away from the Camden madness -

Where's good for a drink in Hammersmith?

A number of pubs along the Riverside sort of behind the appollo near the bridge, all of which are decent.
The Salutation is got amazing Thai food on king Street. -

Carpenters arms is nice
Hawks Nest by Goldhawk Road is a bit fancier and does a margarita pizza and a margarita for £11 before 7, if that’s your vibe

Best and closest “country pub” from SE London?
-
• #933
Not sure if there one closer but The telegraph in putney bills it's self as Londons country pub, surrounded by woodland of putney heath and nice big car park, it's certainly got the vibe.
Decent food the last I went, and was my first port of call after pubs reopened after the covid lockdowns. -

Botley Hill Farmhouse?

Pubs near Farringdon or heading in the direction of Old Street with comfortable seating where you could play a board game if you brought one.
Bonus points for veggies food.
Cheers.

The Crown Tavern, The Old Fountain and the Eagle are all nice pubs. Don't know about veggie food. Mainly just avoid anywhere with TVs.
Slightly different option would be the Barbican. Lots of comfy seating dotted around, people doing lots of stuff including games and a few bars to choose from.

The Old Red Cow

The Old Red Cow makes me so sad. It’s horrible now when it used to be brilliant.
Second on the Old Fountain. Or try the Hand and Shears just one street further back from the Old Red Cow. It had cask Bass on a few weeks back.

Is there a particular destination in the Barbican where these are?

Cheers for the suggestions

Fox and Anchor? Or Holy Tavern?

Others probably have a better idea but I'm thinking of around the foyer area, there are plenty of chairs, tables, armchairs and sofas scattered around.
This kind of area:
Go and get a drink from one of the big foyer bars and take it back to where you're sitting

Barbican seating areas are great but the beer is Heinekraft, so not ideal. I'd be tempted to go to the Sutton Arms on Great Sutton Street. Plenty of tables at which to play games, but the seating isn't particularly comfy. Sekforde Arms in that area is OK too.

Absolutely this. Nipped in for a pint after a gig at the Barbican the other week and was hugely disappointed.

I'd agree with this if decent beer is a priority but sadly some people care less about it than I do.

Ahhh sad times. I'd recommend the Sutton Arms but there's no food I don't think

They still do pies, I think. But that's about it.

Old Fountain turned out to be a good shout. En route, quiet with some bench seating in the back.
The forum delivers.

Where's good for real ale in a nice, traditional pub? I've got a mate visiting from Slovakia in a couple of weeks who loves all that stuff. Probably looking at South/Central/East.

Dog & Bell in Deptford, or Ivyhouse in Nunhead? Could put together a nice ramble between the two via Nunhead Cemetary taking in Shirkers Rest and/or Lucky Anchor for ‘new’ beer bars if quality ale is your quest (and Villages Brewery if you should be really thirsty).
think it is either:
sucking booze out of a cask with a straw
or
chatting shit on a bike forum
