I always used to tell customers this when I worked in bike shops. Don't just buy the bike with the best spec, buy the one you want. Doesn't matter how much sense it makes on paper, if you don't like it you won't ride it.

So true. Spending tons of money on a bike is an extravagance so make sure the head doesn't suddenly take charge and you end up trying to justify the purchase by buying the one with the best spec sheet.
