  • Ah yes, although I think APC moved too much to the french preppy side, I remember bombers that managed to sit nicely in the middle between vintage suede and full on gabba bomber.

  • APC is a good shout, Hamilton looks nice although the offset button seems a bit pointless. Silly expensive but seem to come up in sales a fair bit.

  • Small with a 25” chest?!

  • Didn't see that bit. They are billowy (I have one in M) but that does seem big.

  • Just chucked on a green ma1.. told I look like a has-been and might as well have a feathercut by the style boss.. It's a jungle out there for the midwit.

  • Super lightweight white t-shirt recommendations for wearing under wool jumpers? That's the fashion angle but the reality is i want something for sleeping in that i don't sweat like a mofo in.

But if i were to grow up an get some knitwear where do i look for a nice simple crew jumper that isn't a PITA to look after? I picked up something from one of the Irish wool companies but the first one shrank horribly on a cool wash and the second stretched beyond wearable.

I'd lean into something like Finisterre or Carhartt for durability but i'm don't like the labels they always spaff on there. Arket?

  • COS three pack imo - not super lightweight, but similarly not heavy at all

  • Colourful standard are ok for basic woollen crewneck. They sell you recycled wool as something good whereas that used to be the scratchy bad stuff, but they are cheap and robust enough. To basic for me, but then I don't shrink my wool (fingers crossed) it only gets eaten.
    And they come in colours.
If you want the best, Andersen Andersen are incredible.

  • You just need to hand wash. It’s easy to do it in the sink with wool wash.

  • Reiss are great at these sort of tshirts. I grabbed a few from Bicester in some sort of deal before I went travelling. I can't wear them out because of the fades*, but they're my favourite for sleeping in.

I know what you mean about wool jumpers. I have a knackered Hugo Boss blended crew neck from when I was a teenager at my folks. If you ignore the rips, stitches and bits of paint the actual structure and shape is a million time better than any fancy jumper I've owned despite being washed normally. Plus no moth holes, which killed two john smedley jumpers, and... fuck you know what it's so disheartening when I go through how many of my favourite jumpers were fucked by washing and moths.

*no reflection on the quality Imo, just the result of sun, sea and trekking for a year with only a few t-shirts in constant rotation.

If anyone wants to pre-order the new L’etiquette this is cheaper than ordering direct once you factor in the postage

  • The Jamiesons Shetland crew neck jumpers are nice, the wool is soft not itchy.
They make for a lot of other brands, some have much higher markup!
    Bought mine from coconut residence:

Think the HebTroCo jumpers are made by them.

  • If they're quality, that's proper value for money

  • What's the fit like? On the looser side or tighter side?

Ie how tubs and cuddly will I look

  • Jamieson's sweaters fit ridiculously small. Ive got a couple. The first one I had to pass on to my wife as it is too small, it was a size 40". The next one I bought is a 42" L and even that is not anywhere like a large.

for reference, I usually wear a 38 or a 48 euro sizing, and for most jumpers I would take an M unless it was oversized and might size down. So IMO you definitely need to size up 1 size, more likely even two, for the jamiesons sweaters, and if you want a looser fit then another again, as silly as that sounds.

    they are really amazing though.

  • wish id got one of them in the sale a few months ago
    such a nice bomber jkt

  • This is still oversized if anyone wears an M and fancies one. :)

  • My coconut one is a M and fits perfectly, I’m a 39/40 chest and sometimes wear a small in something if the arms are long enough, I emailed them and they said I was a M from the measurements i gave.
I’m not 100% sure they (Coconut Residence) are made by Jamiesons but looking at the design it’s quite possible, the yarn is likely from JC Rennie from what they say on the website.
either way they are nice sweaters, i’m thinking of buying another one.

  • Coconut crew looks decent, thanks.

  • Where does decent, plain hoodies? After something midweight, not too warm.

  • What we thinking if we see this dad on the school run?

  • Where's genie

  • Most Clapton looking couple of all time.
