  • I only say that because they say to remove them. Maybe it would work!

  • I've always found the American style extra deep, so it would seem unlikely...

  • Banged on my new steam oven on for the first time on Sunday and it wasn't dispensing any water, siemens let you book an engineer online, so did it on Monday, got an engineer booked for today and he's been and fixed it.

Pretty impressed with the service, even more so as I have a 5 year service warranty.

  • Is it the style you are wedded to, or the function?

  • Microwave has gone mental again after being manageable. Basically have to turn it off at the fuse when we're not cooking due to the constant loud beeping.

What do I need to know to replace it?

Are the top and bottom removable decorative plates?

From hunting in Google image I think it's a rebranded one of these, but there is fuck all details that can be downloaded so that doesn't help a lot.

  • Next question is what do I replace it with?

    Cheers

  • Give the frame a firm yank and it should come off.

  • Steam oven

    Why?

    And which one?

  • Which? rates the Hotpoint MF25GIXH, and for the money it's hard to see the rational for spending more.

    which? verdict
A brilliant microwave with an average grill
This microwave from Hotpoint was good at just about everything. The only aspect we found a little lacking was its grill function, which gave an average performance in our test lab. It’s a couple of years old and more expensive than most microwaves of this type, but it’s worth it and earned a well-deserved Best Buy.

  • Searching for appliances puts me off the idea of ever renovating a kitchen.

    It's so fucking shit.

  • If it were me, and I didn't already have a double oven, I would get one of the oven/microwave ones.

They will also fill the gap better. That Hotpoint one is only 39cm high so you'll need some extra blanking which may look weird.

  • Good point. The current one is a combi.

  • anyone using a sous vide machine that isn't made by anonymous chinese amazon sellers? Ideally a kit that does vacuum sealing and the cooking part. My brother is turning 40 next month and wants one.

  • I have an Anova Precision Pro sealer and a Precision Cooker Bluetooth. I can recommend them.

  • Ok. Combi washer dryer, hit me, what’s good? We have an aged 15 year old Bosch tumble dryer and washing machine that I love the idea of reducing to free up some space. The Haier ones seem good value?

  • Have you used one? I had a combi grill/oven/microwave and while it was an awesome microwave I only used the grill once and the oven twice.
The shiny inside plus the microwave turntable gubbins meant it was a tedious cleaning job after grilling anything.
Will be a straight microwave in the new kitchen.

  • Yes. My parents have a Bosch one. I think we might be talking about different thing. It's like an oven on the inside, black enamel, not shiny like a microwave and no turntable bits.

    Like this

  • Anova are good.

I forget who made mine, it's not a brand and no longer available... so controversially, if you're going wand I don't think there is a huge difference. But not having a vacuum sealer makes me want a nice one, but I don't use it enough to warrant one.

So tbh I'd just get Anova for both of them so you have a nice matchy-matchy gift. Idk if they'll use all the Bluetooth stuff or integrate it to their home assistant or whatever, but it's more stuff to play with if they're that way inclined.

  • Mine was a Bosch like that but shiny inside, was a nightmare trying to clean behind the grill element

  • We have Haier laundry products and have been happy with them, but I would warn you about the trap of buying a combi washer/dryer as the performance isn’t actually very good as a dryer and they are physically very heavy

  • There are normally clips you can undo which drops the grill element down so you can clean behind them

  • To be honest I never use the grill on a normal oven or these compact ones. I don't think I've ever owned one that wasn't excessively messy.

  • That's the price you pay for the convenience of pressing a button and receiving clean & dry clothes at the end, and not having an extra machine taking up space.

  • I've got a zanussi one, it's fine.

Dryer performance isn't the same as a separate one but for me it was a bonus function as it was replacing just a washer. I mainly just use it for drying small stuff like underwear.
