I was involved in ebikes 15 years ago.
at that time everybody bought LiFePO4 batteries from Ping on ebay. I am pretty sure he is still going.I asked on pedelecs forum a couple of years ago when I was thinking of rebuilding my kit and was told people just got them from aliexpress, and given a links but no recommended seller.
Any battery should come with a charger. It may cost a little bit more but I would get it rather than risking the ebay guys adapter. I would absolutely use it for riding but not for charging.

I'd defo be using a battery & whatever its supplied charger not the adapter cable to charge it.
Thanks for links to that forum, looks useful.
First post-summer ride today, I got 7 miles with more to give out of my older Air battery on power level 1, so with Air battery #2 available I reckon 16-18 should be the typical range for a while, which is more than my likely daily commute plus errands combo.
I didn't source a battery yet. Really needed guidance on lines of "go buy battery 'x'" as without that I got decision paralysis.
