  • I watched Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 tonight and really enjoyed it, there’s a lot going on but at a relaxed pace. I’ll watch it again, ideally at the cinema (although I think I might have missed the boat on that) before Chapter 2 comes out.

  • Saw Sing Sing a few days ago, really recommend, thought it was beautiful and moving

Nice twist at the end, which I didn’t know about as I hadn’t read up on the story beforehand. Would also recommend doing that and going without pre reading or trailers!

  • His Three Daughters on Netflix is worth a watch.

  • Anyone seen Omni Loop? Hearing good things about it.

  • Purchased it last night, looks right up my street, but also my partner's and she was almost asleep so will maybe watch it tonight.

  • I watched Valhalla Rising instead, which was a different vibe, but I'm glad I did. A quiet place day one was fun too, having a cat as the main character was a bold choice.

  • I watched Valhalla Rising instead, which was a different vibe,

Oh, aye, quite. Imagine having that and "A Field in England" as a double bill.

  • It's not going to win any awards, but 'Frequently asked questions about time travel' is on BBC iPlayer, and is an enjoyable time travel romp.

  • I have found myself in a situation where I’m watching On Deadly Ground, it’s more than I can ever have imagined that I wanted (caveat- the room has optics).

What other Seagal/ adjacent magic am I missing?

  • Omni loop was good, could've maybe tidied up the end a bit more but worth a watch.

  • I've just seen The Substance. Pretty wild stuff, made me want to rewatch Society.

  • I watched The hunger games Ballard of stones and snakes or whatever and it was absolutely woeful. Woeful.

There was one and only one redeeming thing, and that was Viola Davis who was excellent.

  • Been looking forward to that for months. Going to the Garden Cinema for it. Staying away from any reviews or trailers but am thematically reminded of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looker

  • Yeah, definitely one to see with as little information as possible going in! I've not seen Looker, will add it to the list.
The Garden Cinema's great, I need to get back there soon. Maybe I'll try and see Nosferatu or Megalopolis there.

  • The Substance, very substantial very bloody horror.I think there are many refrences, no doubt many I missed!

  • Watched The Master and Margarita last night, not everyone’s cup of tea but a close friend is in it. Unfortunately it was made before the Russian invasion of Ukraine so never got a proper release. If you’ve read the book it’s a good adaptation and feel bad for my mate as is some of his best acting but I think will go unseen due to it being a Russian movie unfortunately. If you’ve got a free evening please try and check it out.

  • Has anyone seen The Critic?

I am debating going to a matinee today or actually getting on with stuff I am meant to be doing.

    Worth it?

  • I had no idea there was a film adaptation. The Master and Margarita is one of my favourite books, will definitely have to try and watch it!

  • Please do lad, my mate told me a funny story, he plays the devil and the movie is in Russian, he couldn’t get the Russian language down so he goes to the director wouldn’t it be extra dark if the devil spoke German. Convinced the director and got away with it.

  • Yes it is worth it, quite a slow burn story but well done.

  • Haha, that's brilliant. Brando levels of "I can't be arsed with that, let's do this instead" genius.

  • Some of them were pretty on the nose but enjoyable! Unfortunately it's got me wondering if carpeting an entire house with the Overlook Hotel carpet is an acceptable thing to do once again.

  • IT IS! DO IT!
