Pic 1. Noticing that the button engaging the lock was depressed, I figured it was simply locked. The seller said she didn’t remember a key, so I bought a replacement online for £6
Such a right-brain view of the situation, not remembering there was a key. Even when faced with a keyhole! XD

I had to pause when they replied saying they didn’t remember theirs ever having a key. Like, what’s the alternative, that I’ve gone out of my way to acquire an additional bracket with a lock to send them a photograph and ask for a key I know they won’t have for a child seat they’ve basically given away?
Partner bought a Hamax Caress rear cantilever childseat secondhand without noticing that the seat was stuck in the bracket.
Pic 1. Noticing that the button engaging the lock was depressed, I figured it was simply locked. The seller said she didn’t remember a key, so I bought a replacement online for £6.
Pic 2. The key arrived, and it disengaged the locking mechanism. The button/lid did feel like it was depressing more, but the bar remained stuck in the bracket.
Pic 3. Pulled the lid up and had a look inside. This piece was broken and loose inside.
Pic 4. Pulled the lid off. This is the inside.
Pic 5. This is where the broken part originated, and…
Pic 6. This is how the piece acts as a latch on the bar.
Pic 7. Reassembled, working but with 1/3 safety features missing I’m not confident enough to fit a child on it other than for very casual park rides.
