Which Tyres?

Yeah I had contact urban running tubeless with no issues, but I since switched to the econtact plus which have been awesome. Also running those tubeless too.

What made you switch to econtacts?

I had a spate of punctures on the contact urban, even after fitting a new one.
Even the sealant seemed to be fighting a losing battle.
Since fitting the econtact plus I haven't had a single one.

Makes sense.
About 7000km in across various bikes I've still only had two punctures commuting and riding dirt.

Do you commute around a velodrome or weigh 28kg?

Had some BNIB Voyager Hyper on the grrl's bike and they flatted a bunch of times on the first ride. I remember getting quite a few flats in mine but I was doing mega miles and hers were new and she's lighter. I've had less flats with race tyres ffs. Maybe she thought she could roll over any old shit because she had fat tyres.

The Hypers were not very puncture resistant and were fairly slippery in the wet when I used them for commuting. Nice brevet tyres though.

Trying to decide on 2.2" tyres for gravel and bikepacking. Currently running Thunder Burts tubeless and I think I'd like a bit more sturdy tyre as these puncture quite easily. Looking for sturdy-ish and fast rolling, preferably light tyre.
Currently Vittoria Mezcals and Conti Race Kings are my top options. Any opinion on which to choose or secret third opinion?
Mezcals seem wildly popular currently and Race Kings were THE tyre a few years ago I hear.

tan wall option is a must.

Trying to decide on 2.2" tyres for gravel and bikepacking.

Went through the same thought process and got the impression that Rage Kings are currently all the rage... either way, the price of Mezcals at BikeInn made it an easy decision but assuming you are after 2.75... can't see a tanwall option there.

29" and the price at BikeInn is really good..

My wife has been running her 27.5x2.0 Race king without puncture for a couple of years. I'm impressed by the comfort on top of the durability it has proven to be. Especially because it had replaced a 2.3 specialized nimbus slick due to a rear puncture from the road. Weight vs durability and comfort

looking for recommendations for:

• tubeless ready gravel/road (sighs groad)
  
• ideally a smooth tread in the centre
  
• not an absolute pig to set up
  
  

I'm aware these things may be mutually exclusive. I'll be on one wheelset for the foreseeable, so something that is going to be fine for roads at higher pressure, but won't leave me double flatting tubes and denting rims on gravel.

Mine are the Sworks. I think the main difference is lighter, little less tread on shoulders making them quicker than the pro at least on the road. They went on easily. I’ve not ridden them all that much yet mind.

Vittoria Terreno Zero are worth considering too, as they meet all three of your criteria.

I got quite a lot of miles out of my 32s but I definitely remember pulling a thorn or wire out of them by headlamp on some silly Welsh ride :)

Her 35s were brand new and copped it on the first ride so we'll probably just thrash them and bin them (or donate them to a bike charity mwuahahaha)

Looking for comfortable commuting tyres for my Genesis Day One. Currently running Maxxis Overdrive Excel in 35mm but find them a bit harsh. Can go to 40mm at least - possibly a bit more. Continental Contact Urban?

Panaracer Pasela?

Contact Urbans are great at many things but they aren't the most supple. I guess due to being wire bead.

Terravail Ramparts are really squishy and comfy. Come in all sorts of sizes as well. Not cheap though!

Continental Grand Prix Urban are very supple and I didn't puncture once with them.
Not inexpensive though.

Do people still rate Kojaks? Need a couple of 700x35 that wont break the bank

I used them for a while. I like them mostly because they look rad as fuck.
