  • Get a tandem. Cheap and come with child assistance. What is the rationale for a cargo bike with a 7yo?

Just stumbled across this post from a few weeks back - thanks, it's good advice for me at the moment.
Daughter has decided that she doesn't want to go in the Bullitt any more. So I am selling that and I was thinking of a long tail, but a tandem probably makes more sense. We already have a tagalong, which she enjoys.

  • Yes, I've often wondered how I could justify buying one!

The main issue is that my wife doesn't currently have a good way of child carrying. The routes to where she needs to go are just a bit too busy for daughter to ride on her own bike, and my wife isn't confident to ride with her on the road, so we need something.

I have the tagalong and I also have a rear seat on a solo which work ok, but my wife doesn't have either. What I really need to do is get her to get something. It could be a Helios, but if I set up the seat on her bike that might work well enough. It's only going to be short journeys - 1-2km max so even the Helios might be overkill.

Thanks for the input - helpful to straighten out my thinking.
