• Hi, trying to clear cupboard space, I'll only keep a couple of stainless steel ones of these, which I've started using again recently.

The ones below haven't been used in a while, apart from the 9 cup when in-laws are coming.

All are in good used condition, I've just gave them a clean, but they were in stored dry.

    ALESSI Pina(s); "posh-er" 3 and 6 cups:

Not checked if they still do this Alessi model, but they feel of superior quality to the Bialettis, more weight, the boiler bottom screws nice to smoothly to the upper body. They were also much more expensive.
The small has small chip to the underside of the handle, only seen when you look under, I've glued it back with araldite (likely) and it hasn't moved. It's not "structural" anyway and hides the aluminium protrusion the handle is attached to.
Both have non plastic-i feel handle, may be bakelite.

BIALETTI; classic 9 and 12 cups

The 9 cup is a from the more recent production before they made the handles ugly, I guess 15/20 years old..
The 12 cups is proper old (in a nice way) . Like the Alessis, handle doesn't feel plastic.

The lot comes with spare replacement assorted rubber gaskets that suit all the sizes, except for the 6 cups but these are widely available.

    What about £75 £60 + postage?

  • Do these work on induction hobs?

  • Stainless steel Moka pots do.

  • Do these work on induction hobs?

Afraid not, you'd need an adaptor plate, Bialetti does one (lot of alternatives out there though)

Bialetti DCDESIGN08 Piattello Induzione Per Moka Induction Plate, Suitable for Coffee Makers up to 6 Cups and Small pots, 25.5 x 13 x 5.5 cm, Steel, 6 Pints, Silver https://amzn.eu/d/eyDrEG7

  • Are the alessi stainless steel?

  • No, as noted in title. Sorry I'd assumed the photos would also give away that they're aluminium (not seen cast stainless stove top coffee makers yet), but best to clarify indeed.

  • My local Lidl had a sale on very recently and they were selling these stainless pots for £3.99. You may still be able to pick one up.

That is a lovely collection @veLLo

  • Ah sorry, the alessi ones I have are identical to those but in stainless.

@eskay thank you, but I already have enough....

  • Wow! At that price my offering isn't very attractive!

Kind of based the price on half of what I found on eBay... didn't study in very much depth I admit.

For reference, here's an idea of the cost of the Alessi(s) new. What I remember paying for the large one at least, bought the small one in Italy and I think it was a bit cheaper (round 60 euros)

Anyway, sound like I should drop the price: £60 + postage?

  • Apologies, I wasn't trying to dismiss your listing, I was trying to help out anyone who was looking for one that would work with an induction hob. I think I struck gold with being in the right place at the right time when Lidl was trying to shift some old stock!

I know how these things get out of hand, I am up to three now after my recent Lidl purchase!!

I am very happy with the aluminum versions (which are apparently better because of the heat transfer properties of alu compared to SS) but I am changing hob soon and grabbed the SS version at a bargain price.

  • Pm'd.

  • Apologies, I wasn't trying to dismiss your listing

Not at all, I didn't take it in that way :)
Good to know what's around. The Lidle model you know looks very similar to the Bialetti Venus.
Re heat transfer, I read somewhere that when possible it's good to pre-boil the water before and I do that now. Supposed to reduce the time coffee is heated before water gets through it...
