  • For this road bike I am building myself I want all wires and hoses to be internal. That sort of requires a t47 BB. But then today I decided that it's wrong on an all steel 1 1/8" head tubed road bike. And a OD38mm BB shelll basically weighs nothing at all. So instead of having the rear brake cable hose go through the BB I have decided to let the hose exit through the end of the down tube under the BB. I am using this massive 51mm oval tube and it allows for it.
The Di2 cables will run through the BB shell.

Uhhh and I have made some new friends that does chroming and nickelplating. And it's not nearly as expensive as I thought so I think I might do a crazy nickel finish on the frame instead of a paint job. I will do some tests first though. But I showed the plating people a Zoom lightweight seat post and they reckon we can achieve something similar

  • Not to distract from your usual amazing vision and work. Love the head tube.
Although rad looking, plating isnโ€™t very on brand in an environmental sense or are the linseed paint days a distant memory?

  • Good point. I haven't thought of it as more or less harmful than paint. But maybe I should investigate a bit before committing to it.
Re linseed oil paint. I loved the look but didn't find it a durable finish I am afraid. And it is a lot of work.

  • love
I know the linseed was a dead end, it was more the ethos ๐Ÿ‘

  • Bit of a dredge, but what's the rear spacing on this?

  • 135mm. Originally it was 130mm

  • ๐Ÿ‘

  • Had a shit and unproductive day.
Stickers came and they are disappointingly wonky. Sticker app sucks.
I also spent 2/3 day making the faceplate thing for my new project. But it was shit and I am quite annoyed with myself for continuing working on it. I should have stopped aft an hour. It's heavy and shit. Not quite sure where to go from here.

  • After the catastrophic use of gas, steel and brass I decided to work on a direct mount hanger idea I have had in my head for a while. Originally I saw Joel Greenblatt of Clockwork cycles do it. I am not quite please with the result. I might start over tomorrow if I can't save it.

The only really good thing I did today is that I made my kids veggie chilli and they loved it.
Tomorrow should be better as I am picking up 300 polished cages and can work on getting them shipped out into the world

  • So even The Hulsroy can have bad days?! Maybe he is human after all. Chilli, hanger and faceplate thing all look good to me. Stickers aren't horrendously off, are they? Ok the top one isn't centred...

  • Is it worth looking at those alu faceplate kits?

  • Love the stickers! Who designed them?

  • Hey Australia

Cages can be bought in Adelaide now

  • I am trying to get organised. I am making cages, but then they get sold. It's all very good but it looks like I need to scale up the facilities a bit and storage is a big part of that.
Today I did a little prototype of a storage unit the lovely @JesperXTis helping me build with some leftovers.

The tiny one will be my workshop trolley for when I am making cages and the big one will be places near my packing table and act as storage for finished cages.

  • Turned out nice! I'm really exited about the Crescent folder MK2/Hulsroy special, I think I'm in the market for something similar

  • ร˜hh yeah, so that is dead I am afraid. Client's job situation changed dramatically.
You can have his slot if you wish? If not I will make my wife one instead.
