My blacked out 574s were great until the toe blew out, just one layer of suede, unlined, was very disappointed, very poor quality construction.

The absolute shitness of Stussy Nike collaborations in the last few years astounds me.

Avoid the Jazz they are shite, had these a few weeks and are now relegated to ‘fiddling in the garage’ shoes.
They are not too small and yes I do cut my toenails. Have NB 373 which are 5 years old and worn through 5 months of flat renovation and a newer pair of 57-something and neither have fell apart like these.

looking for a pair of nice trainers, ideally with goretex for the autumn/winter. Previously i've worn terrex shoes but wondering what else is out there is this vein. Know v little about trainers generally so some pointers would be useful. Nothing white please.

What's your budget? Salomon XT-6 Goretex are pretty bombproof. I have a fucked ankle and find them really supportive. They're designed for trail running so the soles are decent and the waterproofing is great.

I'm assuming you're looking for trail running shoes? As they are usually the ones with gore tex in them.
I always see nike wildhorse and think I'd like a pair of those and then remember I'm not actually doing any running currently.
Here's a link to the trainers that Nike currently do that have gore tex in them, and pretty much all of them are trail shoes.https://www.nike.com/gb/w?q=gore%20tex&vst=gore%20tex
from that group I like the look of these, but they are pricey

My wife's a had a couple of pairs of Salomon & really likes them - I found them just a touch narrow, liking the nike Pegasus trails but the days of me spending ~£150 on trainers are probably in the past!
Sportsshoes.com sometimes have the odd Merrell / Altra / Saucony / Asics bargain depending on your taste, I quite like the look of some of the Saucony trail shoes but not all Goretex

Maybe it doesn't exist but I was hoping for something a little less sporty looking. Less hiking/trail running more casual walks while it's raining.

probably want something from here then

ACG Mountain Fly GTX changed my life. My nerdy hiking/climbing mates ripped the piss out of them when we did a scramble up Tryfan but they were perfect and equally grippy as approach shoes I've previously owned.

Vans MTE-3 get me through the winter dog walking.
Half Cabs this year, grippy, goretex, warm. No complaints.
Still got some high top something's from a year or 2 back, I used the on the motorbike if I'm popping to the shops. Also warm, dry and comfy -

Yeah they were part of Olympus Sports I think? The most amazing adidas store I ever went to was stumbling across the "Adidas Discounter" warehouse in Boulogne in 1990/91 on a booze cruise which was clearing made in France shelltoes and Jabbars for 10 francs or something and tracksuits t shirts sweatbands etc but sizes were all tiny or massive.

Ha! You reminded me of sweatbands! They used to change hands (wrists) for pocket money when I was a nipper! 😜
Or cornie.
