Proper leather shoes

Michael’s Shoe Repairs, South Lambeth Road close enough? Re-soled my William Lennon boots, took a good few weeks to get them done but if you want a job done properly give it to a busy man.

Oofff... my local guy did not charge £10. Happy with the result tho.

Can't necessarily see a reason for specialist product.. but I have three or so that do slightly different things (I'd use on different leathers of different condition for different finishes) under the same umbrella - tgr cream , timsons cobblers cream , and hard wax polish + herring wax cream. I just can't deal with the sapphire stuff that gets raged about - I consider the tgr the most luxurious (think it has mink oil from the smell) and easy for a good sheen

Just got Kiwi parade gloss and Repanur balsam at the moment and I don't want these too shiny or any softer.

That's the one.. I'm reckoning it's too early for any product on them , but having a jar of that the test on another pair won't go wrong

I disagree. They resoled some Trickers for me and was pretty disappointed. Really thick soles and clumsily painted.

Cobblers Nest on Redcross Way did an amazing repair on some JM Westons - I think they’re much better

Well I was going to suggest Cobblers Nest, the guy there is a gent and trained as a Cordwainer - makes some really nice shoes himself, I’ve never had the opportunity to ask him to do any repair work but having had many long chats with him about shoes etc I wouldn’t hesitate.

Michael’s shoe repairs is who Carreducker (and others) use to sole their shoes (if rubber or for students or repair/cobbling, they rate him, I rate them… but I don’t know how long they’ve been using him - they didn’t know the Cobblers Neat was so near to them)

I’d only want to give my shoes to someone I’ve met and explained what I want face to face, like getting a watch serviced or a suit altered - if you wanted to make a small trip to East Finchley I’ve heard Koko’s are superb… my local folks are The Master Cobbler on upper street, they’d make it apparent they are bored by any enthusiasm you may have for the shoes you’re passing to them they do great work… @owl got any photos of the wear/repair needed?

I’ve used Koko’s and Cobbler’s Nest. Koko’s is a more professional outfit, Cobbler’s Nest is more friendly/homely/also great.

If you’re in Southwark I’d stick with Cobbler’s Nest.

It's just a pair of these which the sole is well worn and basically impossible to wear in even light rain as the grip vanishes.

is there any interest in either pair or Grenson Archie brogues size 9? they are quite a wide fitting (too wide for me really) so I think they come up a lot bigger than a 9. I usually wear a 10.5 in trainers and these aren't small on me.

they have leather soles so not ideal for cycling (although I did cycle in them).

£50 a pair?

As someone with a wide 9 sized foot, this is a hard deal to pass up! Mega bargains.

Plenty of life left in those, good score.

As much as I miss the sun, I like a good coat and boot combo - first outing of the year for my Tricker’s clodhoppers.

Those are good. Jealous. October and California is having a freak heat wave and its 37c. All I want to do is wear trousers, boots and a coat :-(

I can never find Chelsea boots that fit. They always seem “baggy” around my feet

Nice. For me they are the perfect boot. Look great whatever they are paired with and will probably outlive me. Mine are on commando sole which I'd recommend if yours aren't for next resole. Think I've resoled once in 10+ years although may have reheeled. So yes here's to autumn, coats and clodhoppers.

bottom ones look great. vibram morflex (cristy) sole?
