  • Just picked up this Peugeot racer here in France. Not sure what model it is but it appears to be in pretty good original condition spec is as follows...
    Reynolds 531 frame
    Strong light 52/42 crank
Simplex gears with 5 speed block
    Mavic model E rims
    Phillipe Franco Italia bars
    Atax stem
    Mafac centre pull brakes
    SR seatpost
Frame number is 7 digits starting with a 7. Any ideas as to model?

  • Nice bike , not sure of the model but do remember those tiny, almost pointless mudguards!

  • Ha ha! Yes so do I, the ultimate 70s/80s upgrade.
    Research suggests it's a PSN 10 atm

  • candidate for new groupset on old frame?

  • Was thinking about that. I'm guesssing the spacing is 126mm so would need a bit of coldsetting. I'll see how I get on with the 'hard man' gearing first.

  • Minor update

The usual post bike purchase internet trawl has revealed that the bike is in fact a 1978 PR10. I'd thought it was from 1977 but I was yesterday years old when I discovered that the Maillard Normandy hubs have the week and year of manufacture stamped on them. the front is week 21 of 78 and the rear week 22 of 78.
Other than the chinese saddle annd modern spongy black bar tape the bike is all original and in pretty good nick. It's a 60cm which is at the lower end of size for me (ideally it would be a 62cm) but II think it may be a bit of a sweetie.
With regard to the saddle I have a honey coloured Brooks B17 at home which may get a run out

  • It gets to sit next to me at work for a short while
