The original build on this was over from my Brother Cycles Kepler. So as the years have gone on I have slowly swapped out those parts for something else, sometimes doing it twice as didn’t like it or should have gone with the item I wanted first.

So had TRP with Gevenalle shifter and Middleburn etc.

But over the last year have been search for British, where possible companies, also been buying the parts from my LBS so helping them too.

Guess you could say it’s a natural evolution of the bike and components, with some being sold and then bought again.

But I think I am getting there now after deciding to keep the bike

So it is a 6? That seems high for such a piddling clamp and carbon shit, but I'll give it the ol' Safety Round Up 7Nm and we should be golden.

Anyway, 9 months of "build" time (or is it break time?) and it's finally been ridden...

It certainly looks like a 6, but you don't necessarily have to go to max torque to keep things in place

I had a go on one, soooo much nicer to ride than a normal Brompton. Handlebars are weird, but easily replaced.

Basically a successful bike ride for me these days

Every bike except some TT bikes and maybe DH bikes and folders look like the same shit some Scottish bloke invented in the 1800s.

Anyway, I'm already a fan of cheap Kinesisesseseseses so your diss means nothing to me.

The ride duration was like 10min total and that photo is in the middle of a grassy field - so the tyres were probably cleaner after than ride than before! It does actually need a wash though - 9months of dust plus the seatpost has some rubber grossness from workshop stands.

Weird in what way? (I've never actually ridden a Brompton so have no idea what they ride like)

Who do I need to blow speak to to get two of them at cost price?

I didn't break a bone or the bike so I consider this a success too!

I need to get some time on it soon because I want to use it on the road for 400k and 600k audax while the Mason is still in a box overseas after the crash.

It feels quite stretched out but I don't know if that's because I've done nothing to the position or if it's just 3months of no riding and going from the upright Surly to this makes it super obvious. Need to get the tape measure out.

It's basically stock save for Di2 and my P2M cranks. I've got some flash road wheels coming for it too.

I did buy it to replace the Tarmac. I think it just feels longer than I expected because I went from the Tripster to the Surly and then nothing for 3 months. I'll still double check the measurements, because I'm like that. :)

I wanted to give it a bit of a flex but I had wet hiking shoes on Speedplays so backed off after losing one foot. Don't need another insurance claim...

I reckon it'll fucking hammer when I get the fast road wheels on it and some 35mm+ slicks.

Since I'm now not allergic to getting trains for rides, I thought it'd be cool to have some folders so we could avoid having to deal with the fuckery of trying to get bikes on trains. I was thinking throw a little front rack on or something to carry a bag of kit and they'd be a pretty rad exploration/tile bagging machine, especially since I don't own a car now.

lol I feel exactly the same. Those with a use for it and can afford are going to be really happy.

What do people reckon to this new and typically affordable Kinesis? The Tripster AT+

450mm chain stays in a S (which is really an M), pretty low BB, seems to clear 2inch 29er tyres, mounts a-plenty for bikepacking. Seems decent for £800 but there’s not much in the way of write-ups out there.

Doesn’t look to bad, guess everyone is doing a Gravel Plus now.

Assume it’s alloy frame and carbon forks, so should be ok, geo looks pretty standard. Guess it has a price point to satisfy
