Interestingly I was looking at an old 90s Dawes catalogue recently and there was a whole genre called Trekking bikes, which I realised are the same as gravel bikes.

Yeah we did.. once give the chance we'd take dad's racer and tear it around the roads to eventually take the bigger thrill of going where they wouldn't, on those long country muddy paths of Sunday walks, also we'd add a spliff or two in for the thrill..
