maybe it would look weird to have just a thin tube under you stem?
-
• #123653
Why not just make them the thinnest thickness to start?
I do, hit me up.

Ah! Good to know.

Depends on the stem, mine are sized to blend with thin walled forged stems. Regular commercial spacers blend better with some of the chunkier stems.

I think the commercial imperative is to make something which can withstand rough handling all the way from production to end user. I've had 1mm spacers come back bent from the anodiser because they've been gripped too hard in the jig.

Thanks folks, got some JB Weld delivered today. Waiting on some sanding bits for the dremel to clean it up before epoxy party time.
I'll report back. -

My track pump has somehow developed a puncture in the metal return tube (?) bit which I think is aluminium.
About 0.7 mm diameter. I guess it fell over and hit something sharp. Doesn't seem to be a crack. It wasn't originally that obvious - I stuck a pin in it to investigate.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

Why is it that the DLR between Devons Rd and Bow Church shakes around so much when the track looks as straight as can be

My partner wants to reassemble a table but has lost all the fitting parts. It was from habitat
Trying to source
Appx 20tpi hex furniture bolts
4x 7mm diameter x 30 mm length
8x 5mm diameter x 10mm length
Where's most likely to supply these, mail order probably best.
Note: I appreciate that bag of fixings will inevitably turn up on a shelf the day after the replacements have been sourced and fitted.

I was recommended Accu on here recently. Ridiculous array of stuff so I'm sure they'll have what you're after. The shipping is quite pricey though.

Orbitalfasteners is my go to for this kind of thing.
Or if you can work out the equivalent for IKEA then get it from their spares site.

Thinking about places for a long weekend away in mid October. Went to Lisbon at the same time of year a couple of years ago and loved it.
Requirements are: easy to get to from London, relatively inexpensive, vegan friendly, stuff to do and see (we're not beach holiday people).
Any left field suggestions? -
• #123667
I’d say vegan-friendly probably limits you to the big cities. Does it have to be abroad? How about Edinburgh? Otherwise, can’t go wrong with Barcelona, Berlin or Amsterdam. Stockholm is great but on the expensive side.
-

Yeah, definitely thinking a city break type thing! And definitely thinking abroad for this one. Barcelona is our top choice at the moment. Stockholm is a good shout (if we can stretch the budget). I spent a few years touring with bands for a living and have spent a lot of time in Berlin and Amsterdam and love them both but fancy something different and a bit less familiar. I would say most of Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and France are in the same boat.

Barcelona! I live here and it’s wonderful at this time of year - cooler, less busy, alive.

Bruge, or Ghent. Watch in bruge first.

• #123674
easy to get to from London
30 minutes from Paddington
relatively inexpensive
Since it isn't fit for humans now, it's cheap
vegan friendly
Mostly south Asian, but the central European and Mediterranean places have vegan options too
stuff to do and see
More than enough to fill a weekend without even crossing the river, but Windsor is right there if you must

Actually might spend a week there any recommendations for cheap accommodation.
Why are headset spacers so thick?
I assume there is a minimum thickness aluminium has to be, but as an eg I remember having some with "teeth" cutouts on the inside. Why bother? Why not just make them the thinnest thickness to start?
Even more so with carbon ones.
Surely the stem clamp is what does the majority of the work stopping your stem walking down or squashing your headset? I'd expect the spacers to be fairly nominal.
