there was a whole genre called Trekking bikes, which I realised are the same as gravel bikes.

The Rough Stuff Fellowship goes back to 1955. You kids didn't invent riding drop bar bikes on unmade paths.

I have a friend in his 20s, who recently claimed that he and his friends invented calling their lime bikes their “steeds”.

I had to politely correct him.
