Sjs or spa are doing a no brand 7 speed for £5 plus delivery.
As I have just bought one, but can't remember which.

Back again, got a mid cage RD and feel like I’ve got it shifting pretty well, but it still has trouble engaging the biggest cog. Is this a chain length issue, rd issue or have I still not got the limit screws right?

The chain is definitely too short, the other issues are hard to tell until the chain length is right. Your shift cable also looks short, those derailleurs prefer a nice big loop of cable so it goes straight in the derailleur. Look at how much the ferrule is bending, that will increase your shifting force noticeably.

Chain too short, and B screw too far out I'd say.
Can always use quick links to add a small section of chain in.

This chainstay bridge looked a bit suspect before the frame went in for a powder coat and it has returned with two holes blasted in it. Any advice for what to do other than binning it?

If it was only the bridge that looked iffy to start off with, I'd not worry about it.

Fill it with hot glue to stop it holding water.
I'm gonna get a reputation if I keep this up...
-
• #7490
Why don't you just marry a hot glue gun?

It would have to be a poly relationship involving my Dremel and TS100

I’ve been trying to disassemble and regrease/re-oil a shimano nexus inter 7 SG7R40 hub. As I’m taking apart the drive side, I’ve managed to release the 2 shifter springs, basically exactly what the YouTube tutorials told me to be extra careful not to do…
I’m in a bit too deep now, who/where can I take to help me sort it out? Or is it a maybe manageable fix at home…? Has anyone tried this much reassembly for nexus hubs?

Is all Deore 10 speed stuff compatible or do I need to pair a Linkglide mech with a specific shifter?
-
• #7494
Linkglide
Is the different bit, it's compatible with linkglide.
-
• #7495
But what is the linkglide?I googled, it's the tooth profile on the cassette.
I remember someonme saying something had to match on Linkglide setups, was it cassette and mech? What happens if I run a non LG mech on an LG cassette or vice versa?
I actually did run the LG mech I currently have with a non LG cassette coz I had a friction thumby and a 9 speeed microshit cassette for a short while. I don't remember having any problems though maybe I would have if I tried indexed shifting?

Shifter needs to be linkglide with the mech as the pull ratio is different.

Found these in local bike charity warehouse. Would like to clean them up. Will obviously change brake pads.
Any suggestions how to clean up the noodle holder things? They don't seem to be replaceable.

Evapo-rust is safe and effective, but you'll need to have other plans for it as the smallest pack costs more than the brakes are worth. You could lightly scrub with a fine wire brush to remove the loose stuff and then boil them to convert the red oxide to black.

Could try electrolysis.

Wife managed to snap the rear plate on a new 105 rear mech after 2 rides on a new bike. Bike appeared to be set up properly, gears shifted fine when I rode with her on the first ride, she doesn’t think anything went in the chain like a stick. How the hell has she done this?!
New mech fitted for now as plate is out of stock so hopefully it’s now sorted

Rear derailleur hanger bolts -
After struggling recently with a rounded mech hanger bolt I vowed to try to source some with a larger hex head or maybe even torx. The current ones take a 2mm hex and round off almost every time. So, can anyone point me in the right direction for a replacement as I’m not 100% on the specs I’m looking for.
I’ve had the callipers out to measure the current ones - 9mm long and 3mm wide (see pics). Any guidance much appreciated
