Funny. We were talking about this as an alternative to the Mille Miglia I can't ride, later in the year. It's probably been mentioned on the Scottish thread rather than a thread of its own.

Maybe not the Scottish touring thread, but I did mention it here
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17470540/I'd be taking the Surly with 2.2" or 2.5" tyres because that's what I've got. Reminds me, I still need a seatpost for it. I want an eeSilk but I don't want to pay RRP

Train to Thurso is booked. Mid September departure. Much hand wringing about weather to ensue.

Are you going from London? Got details of the train? Timings and costs?
We did An Turas Mor in early Oct and it was cold and wet for two days and great for the rest.

Nah I'm in Glasgow so I've got a head start. £56 train from Queen Street to Thurso the thick end of seven hours..then the long way home.
It would be an epic from that London.

I think it only took 4.5hrs to get to Glasgow, so that's a day on two trains or we could overnight in Glasgow to break it up a bit I guess. Is it a direct train to Thurso? Google told us to go via Perth and Inverness or something.

Yeah change at Inverness. No direct route.

So I did this last week. The weather was amazing I even had to buy suncream.🙂
Used the fucking search but no dice.
Has anyone done this? Wondering if it's a gravel bike thing or more mountain bike.
I did the Badger Divide earlier this year and I'm glad I took my mountain bike, I'd have been pretty miserable on a rigid bike with 38mm tyres...
