Retro mountain bikes

Thanks. Yeah, Funk are great. I'm only starting to realize how lucky I was to find this one. It was on Markplaats for almost half a year but before I thought it was just some scam or with one or other hidden defect. But it looks like this bike hasn't been on the streets before. No dust where you expect to find some on a used bike. Chain, cogs, brake blocks,... everything looks like new and unused (except the seatpost and saddle).

I don't know how much you paid for it but it sounds like you had a result. I paid £2400 for mine and broke it in less than a month. So if you paid less and it lasts longer your up

11,3 kg. Not bad considering the groupset and Rock Shox Mag 20.

One of my dream mtb’s there!!! If you’re looking for a rigid fork I know some folk that may have one, there’s a retro bike flea market at the end of the month that most of the big collectors in my neighborhood are gonna be at, I can ask around if needed.

I saw a nice yo eddy last week being ridden around, had to stop him for a chat. He bought it in 1990 new, had some nice bullseye wheels and Paul brakes along with some other nice bits. Had a beer and spent 20 mins talking about old 90’s bikes with him. He just turned 60 and rides it everyday as his city/do everything bike… sorry about the non drive side pic.
He inspired me to get off my ass and build up mine… I got the rusted holes in the seat tube welded up and took it for sandblasting and powder coating. Unsure if I should clear coat over the new decals I stuck on or just leave them? The fork is made by Edsen after seeing someone on here buy one. I’m not gonna build it up retro correct, most probably v brakes and a shimano zee 1x10

Love the mustard fat.I had a buckshaver and a monster fat.A mate had the first shockabilly in the u.k,with a misaligned rear triangle.How many nice bikes I have seen with this issue!!

That´s a very kind offer, and yes, a box section fork would be ace. But no budget left at the moment. 😱

I´m almost regretting that I bought the Klein. It´s just too mint to ride and I really feel the urge to hammer it offroad.

Had once a chance to buy an unridden 1993 Karakoram very cheap, bought, then didn't ride it for a year, as it was too mint. Ended up selling it for the same 50 Euro to a GT enthusiast (and am still happy he was happy), then buying way more beaten similar bike/s since.
Lesson learned is, just ride it, it was meant to be ridden.
The Klein is beautiful, btw.

I know. I have a couple of really nice vintage mountainbikes (Ritchey Project 20, Scott Pro Racing,...) and the fun is about riding them, not looking at them.

The thing is: I don't really trust the Klein. They break too easily. Dhould have put my money in a nice steel Fat Yo Eddy or Serotta T Max. 😏

Nah you gotta scratch that Klein itch. I’ve always wanted to try one. And you have the Ritchey. I was thinking the same about the Yo Eddy I’ve always wanted one. Was thinking a classic period build but thought i really want to ride it off road so am gonna build it with v brakes or hs33’s and a 1x10 drivetrain. I know it’s most probably gonna break due to the rust and my over 50’s girth but should be a laugh

Holy, that Manitou. 😲

C26 II ? Madness.

Kinda it uses the same C9 tubing and design as the yeti but a few years later. What I was told was that it was made by a manitou employee as a personal project, he or she carbon reinforced the headtube etc due to cracking problems that happened on the alu manitou’s. I definitely think there’s a weight limit on the bike but like the c26’s this bike was never gonna be tested for production.

If anyone is in Berlin on Saturday some of the big retro mtb collectors are have a flea market at Naumanns Biergarten
Wilhelm-Kabus-Str. 36, Berlin Shoneberg. It’s the first one since lockdown I think, and there’s always some really interesting stuff there and nice folk.
