Boleyn Tavern? Nice inside and decent beers. Many buses head that way from Canning Town.
Definitely the best pub in the area. The inside is stunning they did a great job with the refurb.

The Black Lion is my favourite in that area but it's a bit of a walk / bus / not super easy to get to from Canning Town.

Thanks for the recommendation! The Boleyn Tavern looks decent. Any suggestions for somewhere further West though? It's for after work drinks and most people live south of the river with a few exceptions so somewhere slightly more central might work a bit better.

I guess any previous recs close to London Bridge, Southwark, Waterloo. (Kings Arms, Lord Clyde)
There's not much I can think of at Bermondsey, Canada water or North Greenwich apart from The Pilot, 5min across the park from North Greenwich (nothing special but fine) or The Angel by the river at Bermondsey (depends on if you like Sam Smiths or not).

Thanks! I'll give those a look.

The Old Justice in Bermondsey has recently (not that recently now) reopened - not far from the Angel - and I've heard good reports, though not made it there yet.

Any suggestions for pubs as close to Paddington station as possible?

The Warwick Castle used to be OK, is close if you go out the back way towards little venice, but there are closer pubs

I think some of the better local pubs round there have shut down.
The pub upstairs in the station (think it's a Fullers) is fine if you want convenience. Seem to remember the Prince of Wales being OK too. I'd probably go with the Bear for a decent range of beers.

More 'bars' than pubs but theres an attractive few bars on the canalside around the back of the station.

You've got The Bear on Spring Street for a broad range of beers or The Victoria on Strathearn Place for decent grub and Fuller's beers. But that's only half the story for the latter - it's an incredible looking place inside and worth the five minute walk from the station for that alone.

I'll second recommendations for both the Victoria and the Bear

Tapping the Admiral worth the short walk dude

What's that an euphemism for? Bashing the Bishop?

Yeah that would be my rec if not too far. I used to go to the Irish pub towards Mornington Crescent but it doesn't appear to exist anymore.

The Constitution just off Georgiana Street used to be a great pub. It's been refurbished recently and I've got no idea what it's like now.
The Prince of Albert is also decent. I ate my first ever pigeon meal in there, after seeing pigeons all over the substation opposite for years. The next time I walked past it, after eating the pigeon dinner, there wasn't a pigeon in sight.

Used to go there to watch the football sometimes. The customers used to address him as Mr Quinn.

It's been refurbished recently
It's fully gentrified up. Nice enough with big windows and a couple of different roof terraces overlooking the canal but dull and expensive.
Prince Albert is nice.
Sheephaven Bay is a decent old school boozer.

Thanks all 👍👍👍
Boleyn Tavern? Nice inside and decent beers. Many buses head that way from Canning Town.
Alternatively Mother Kelly's Stratford usually has some fun beers on tap, not far from Stratford International DLR
