I’d say he makes some good points. Massive transfer of wealth from working people to billionaires through monetary policy. Need to redistribute from billionaires back to working people.
He gets a bit confused when he talks about ‘bankers’ and jumps on the bandwagon and doesn’t really stick to his key point above.
He also speaks from a position of privilege having made his personal wealth through trading within banking. He does acknowledge this though.
I’d say worth a listen and applying usual handful of salt.

He seems to be breaking through, I wish him well.

He really only has one or two talking points which, once you've heard, are just repeated in slightly different ways.
They're totally valid points which he explains in a way that most people could understand but I don't think you can make an entire YouTube career out of it.

Most definitely worth a listen. He makes excellent and relevant points throughout his programs. Most pertinently, how wealth has been shifted through conscious action to the already wealthy. He is absolutely spot on re austerity and definitely on the side of the angels.

I like him. He’s from a working class background, got his job by outwitting the other candidates in a card game (according to him) and finished up sickened by the whole rotten thing from the perspective of an insider with the most comprehensive understanding of the system.

I came across this guy for the first time on the weekend as i was setting something up on YT and ended up watching the 40 minute Insider program with him. Interesting guy, bit of a show off but easy enough to understand. Google Fu suggests man with good points but also talks bollocks about himself.

Let's be specific. His wealth is from trading.
I also think his constant harping about his wealth is to show he should really be on the other side of the fence and to impress a certain type of working class person and try to engage them. Most of what he is saying isn't revolutionary, it's the audience he is trying to reach that is

I really enjoyed his book. I agree with with others that he does tend to hammer the same points and can come off a bit conceited (with respect, he was a trader hahaa).
That said, I think he's doing valuable work to demonstrate to ordinary people why we're in the mess we're in. In an era when other media figures spend their time dog whistling or perpetuating damaging 'national economy as a household budget' myths he's an important voice IMHO.

I came across him last year and was really impressed by him, and his analysis of the significance of inequality (Fwiw I am an economist). I think he is on to something and agree with his critiques of the UK economy and the way economics is "taught" nowadays.
I read his book earlier this year and thought that was great.
I've listened to a couple of his podcasts and would like to see more. I think he is potentially a great communicator, especially to a people who are largely ignored by the mainstream.
Some big statements he made have been shown to be right (property market not going down after covid). I've made some significant investment decisions differently based on what I've learned from him.
And if the FT want to take shots at him he must be on to something, I would regard that as a positive.
Got a friend whose a big fan of Gary's Economics YouTube channel. Interested in hearing whether what he has to say is worth listening to or whether he's a Charlatan from those who know more than me?
Definitely think he blows his own trumpet more than his possibly appropriate but don't want to dismiss his view of the world just because of that...
