• I currently have a 1x10 SRAM setup with a 36-12 cassette. My shifter broke this morning, so I was thinking of replacing with Shimano.

Are there any combinations of Shimano 10s parts that work together that will stretch to a 36t cog? Obvs just a rear mech and shifters are what I need!

I think long cage 105/Ultegra maxes out at 34t? Any real world examples of going bigger than a 34t with this setup?

  • I've used a medium/long cage 105 with with 11-36t and it was fine.

  • oh cool, presumably a 5700 10s was it?

  • I use a 6600 rear mech with 11-36, but this is in a 1x setup (44t front).

  • Probably definitely fine, I use one on my touring biek

  • I used a non-series 10s mech with a 2x set up, 40/28 x 11-36 with no problems.
