Free: Dyson DC40 upright vacuum cleaner - with a fault!

Posted on
  • My neighbour was asking where to dispose of this responsibly, I made the mistake of asking 'why' and it turns out the motor works but no suction. It's a common fault and can be fixed with a readily available part and the inevitable YouTube video. Like a fool I couldn't bear to see it chucked and took it in, but I have no use for it working and no time (or inclination) to make it work, and no space to keep it, so I'd like to make my new problem yours!
It's in good clean condition, with (I believe) the standard accessories on board.
    Collection only from SE1/Waterloo.

  • Have you done all the common checks like the filter, theres two, now in the ball and now on top of the bin chamber. There's also a small hose at the rear which attaches to the ball and the main hose base that can be removed by pressing the red tab firmly. This usually becomes blocked and stops suction. (Used to work for Dyson).

  • Thanks for the tips, I have indeed tried all the obvious/easy wins, and as mentioned have neither the time/interest/need to take it further. Got a couple of people interested in taking it on and taking it away which is my only goal! Cheers though 👍

  • New owner diagnosed fault - fractured flexi pipe inside the ball of doom 👍
    All's well that ends well.
