  • G line looks great. Only 6 times more expensive and a kg heavier with one less gear than my Carrera intercity disc.

Will probably get one when the Carrera hinge dies.

  • Looks good but it is a pity, at that price, that they didn’t use a carbon fork. Or, at least, not an alloy fork.

  • 20" and disc brakes have opened this door now, to compare with other bikes, even the allpacka is cheaper and Birdy, Tern verge S8i as well

  • Very much want one. That’s a very noticeable amount of weight though.

I wonder how much the almost guaranteed ti version will cost…

  • All the G line has done is make me really want a Neutrino.

  • Hope everyone is doing well
    .
I know there's a buzz about the g line but you can mod your current bikes to 20 inch wheels for less money
    .
I'm hanging on for the '29 er version
    .
    In the meantime....

  • Sad thing to say, but the only thing I like and I hope they will have as an accessory for the other Brompton is the new pedal system for the G-line.

  • They’re an alix storefront that whacks a massive premium onto their items because of their branding. It’s not made in London, there’s no craftspeople, it’s regular factories in China.

  • Makes sense! Thanks.

  • No prob. IIRC it was the identical product pictures that gave it away.

  • Is the G line the new Home Counties Prommuter?

    the rangerover Evoque of cycling?

  • Or you live on a boat and commute on towpaths and premium gravel to your eco-co working space with no secure bike store.

  • Or you want to easily transport bikes to an off road destination and ride about for a while.

  • makes me double down on wanting an all packa

  • I can see a G-Line replacing the C-Line I keep in my campervan. My two major concerns are the weight and the increased folded size. Need to see one really.

  • The brilliant bikes video covers the measurements. It's very close to the original.

  • So does Chris Haslam on Wired.com. Need to see it really.

  • it still looks more compact than the All-Packa

  • Not the Chris Haslam I was expecting

  • Looks like it is a couple of inches bigger each way folded.

  • I only bought two Ezy wheels, WAC. Ordered two more today. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet to see how the new suspension block feels.

I'm happy that it's blacker than I was expecting it to be.

  • Yes, an odd design choice given they've got the facility. Unless this is held back for the G-P-Line version. You'd think the weight and comfort of carbon would be a no brainer.

I can't see any mention of the carrier block spec, I'd hope it's rated more than 10kg as the standard, given the bike packing pitch.

  • In the ethos of the original the Di2 alfine would be lower maintainance? Seems a bit tight to not put that on for £2.5k

  • Agreed. And Shimano brake calipers wouldn’t have dented the profit margin too much.

I think if they had upped the spec a bit I would find it easier to swallow the fact that it’s double the price of a standard Brompton.

As it is, for my needs, the T line remains the more appropriate machine but will be forever unaffordable (although I might have a sneaky look at what the payments might be on the work cyclescheme (Vivup)). I might have swung towards the G-line if they had thrown in carbon fork, stem, bars and Di2.

I’ll still have a test ride though.
