  • Idk if the Harley Davidson Softail design could give any pointers

  • On the subject of kids sus forks. How does the headshok bond to the fork crown?

  • Had a proper look at this drawing. This is very doable

  • Surely a tiny one of these! Just chop a wishbone and add the spring

  • Yes exactly!

Maybe even with a pivot at the bb so it can be folded into and fitninto the car or bike trailer

  • Great pictures! How about some 20x2,4" bmx tyres with low pressure. That should be a lot of damping already. Not as fun as building a full suspension thought

  • Ibis silk ride in the back, truss or mini lauf fork in the front

  • It's getting similar tyres to her current ones. Fast rolling MTB tyres 2.2" ish.
And yes its plenty if you have the right technique, but I want to see what happens if you smoothen out the roots and shit even further. It's not like 29er wheels that roll over everything. And I'd like her to feel confident enough to do some more technical stuff and go a bit faster

  • Yes to Ibis

  • She has a habit of sitting on her seat on rocky/rooty terrain

Just reading back over this. Trying to coach my kids to stand on the pedals was hard. Youngest got bucked off at least once on the pump track sitting over rollers. Think the older one has got it now.

Maybe a false observation, but her saddle looks quite high. Can she put both feet flat on the ground standing over it? A dropper seat post might be the wisest investment.

  • Seat is actually too low. We have very long legs. She can touch the ground sitting on the saddle and she is able to balance on the pedals with her As lifted. But she forgets this when it becomes technical and puts her foot down. She has the technique because she did it when she was four. It's a confidence thing I am certain and I just think more suspension will help her gain confidence. We are running the tyres at ultra low pressure already

  • affordable 20" fork that is reasonably light and good enough quality that it belongs on a custom steel bike

I believe the Omnium mini forks might fit the bill?

  • Oh, I missed that as a requirement. Apologies. They're rigid. Do look quite nice though.

  • I'll make my own thank you very much 😄

  • Suntour XCM HLO air sl? 1.8kg is better then 2.0kg

  • wooww....ALL incredible....

  • Thanks 🙏

  • I had the absolute best day today. I took my time and fucking nailed this process that has been in my head for a couple of years. I should have made a YouTube video out of it.

Can't wait to put this bike together.

  • Is this for your personal bike?

  • They are all my personal babies. I just lend them to people for a significant amount of money

  • More seriously yes it is. Hopefully it can become a model for my 2025 lineup

  • Hahah that's another way of doing business I guess

  • So "clamped" seat tube and drilled headtube? Exciting combo ngl

  • I am the Forrest Gump of framebuilding!
