Fork oil is fork oil - use the weight recommended in the manual unless you're going to modify anything. FWIW, I've fitted emulators to a couple of old damper rod forks and noticed a significant improvement. It's easy to do. New springs can make a real difference too, especially if the old ones feel very soft.
I'm planning to change the fork seals on my CB550 in a month or so, should I do this by the book, or should I be subbing in a more modern oil?
