I've finally started wearing the transparent G-Shock I bought ages ago - it's very good for buggering about in the sea.

Grabbed this from the junk shop to nab the strap. Couldn’t help but have a look inside.

Looks fine to me

It'll probably buff out with a little poly

Came with a few other bits and looks very snide to me. Mostly because the sub second isn’t in line with the poorly painted dial.
All the same, may be worth something to the less serious collector.

On second thought, looking at the movement maybe it’s a genuine JLC with a poorly shrunken transfer on the dial.

Name the watch? Sorry it comes up ludicrously small but that’s the crop for ya

Just be mindful bud that old watches maybe lumed with Radon or other radioactive shit. Handle with care!
I agree that the military issue engraving looks all kinds of wrong and the dial numerals probably just paint in this instance but a cheap Geiger meter might be a good investment. -

Ah yea the radioactive thing.

So I'm looking for a dress watch for my wedding celebration and I'd like your thoughts hive mind.
My ideal would be a cartier Santos Must but if it was around 39mm. The killer black dial version.
I love the almost pure black face in the rectangle case.
What's hivemind suggestions?
I'm struggling as I think it'll look like this:

That’s a Tank, you’ve already got the Santos 😂
I think dress watches should lean on the small side… is there anywhere you could try one? Gets my vote. -
• #79013
A Tank shape in 39mm width would look like an actual tank, you lunatic.

Getting a bracelet version might make it look larger but then you’re not far from the Santos really.
I agree that you should go and try one on though. Your wrist isn’t that big.

The Tank must is dress watch perfection but it is small this is their much larger, chunkier and slightly less attractive Tank. Whilst googling I also see Selfridges have one Black Santos DuMont for sale. I thought these were limited and sold out immediately

And Subdial have thishttps://subdial.com/listing/cartier-tank-mc-343-stainless-steel-blue-sd052851

Loving the new daily watch, nothing fancy but a nice size for me. Think I might get a nice sailcloth strap though.

If you don't get a base Panerai for this then you're not the man I thought you were.
PS congrats on the upcoming nuptials!
PPS if you're determined for dressy oblong, then Reverso's come in sizes that start with a reassuring "4" in that price range....

When I’m in the monies I’d get the JLC Grand Reverso Duo, 2-for-1, bargain init!
A dress watch for day time and night time.

I don't know if anyone is on their mailing list but this is the new Studio Underdog special edition without any logos on. I quite like it, but £1700 seems quite steep

Swiss movement instead of the Seagull one in the previous models. The climb upmarket has begun.

Seem to have lost their heads since the partnership with H Moser.
Swiss movement or not, I don't think I'd pay more than £1k for one of their watches.

I had the email about the Salmon edition but didn't spot the no Logo version. EDIT: just seen the password but I'm not sure a £400 which they are probably paying a lot less for movement justifies a £900 price hike
Sadly not on holiday
