Yeah, literally no idea it existed. We only rode through there because we decided to extend the little bit of grav grav rather than push back up the steep bridleway onto the road. Good find. Obviously I'll never ride there again because I have all those tiles :D

Wasn't that far away from there yesterday, looks good and I have tiles nearby too

Lovely ride over and around Kingly Vale today, then down to the coast. Wouldn't have minded a MTB for some of it.

We’re currently in Germany, visiting family. I have a bike here so get out on the odd morning for 2/3 hours.
On Saturday, I decided to take a slightly different route up to the Vineyards in Schnait and Aichelberg. Rather than climbing up through and beyond Diegelsberg, I followed the road along the Nassachtal (Nassach valley) and through Nassach and Baiereck before rejoining my usual route.
It was hot and new surfacing in Baiereck made for an interesting kilometre or so. But after that, the shade of the forest offered some respite on the remainder of the climb and the road surface was - as usual - flawless.
Before the descent into Schnait, there’s a tree-lined plateau and a couple of defunct wind turbines. Then the view opens up across the vineyards and the next valley over.
The descent into Schnait is smooth, flowing and sinuous and you lose nearly all of the gained elevation over as little as 1.5km.
From that point, it’s a ride home alongside the railway and through industry on the edge of Uhingen and back into the villages.
The next time we visit, I need to service the bike and I think that will include swapping out the 53/39-12/25 combo.

Definitely autumn out there. Wet, miserable, mucky roads etc.
Nice 85 miles to Winchester and around.

Are you in London? I am riding to - and through - Winchester on Friday and currently plan to use this route. Always keen to know alternatives.

Nah, Portsmouth.
However the road between Winchester through Alton / New Alresford is absolutely wonderful, especially around Itchen Abbot, Easton, Bighton etc. I'll pop a link in here soon showing it.

Here, something along these lines. I've done it the wrong way, but you get the jist :

The gravel bit can be avoided by going up to Medstead, but its a really nice woods so unless its really muddy I'd keep it in.
Likewise in New Arlesford you can just stay on the main road, but you miss the nice bit by the watercress, the fun ford and the river you can dip your feet in. Also, turn left after crossing the ford under the Bypass to Tichborne to an absolutley fantastic pub called the 'Tichborne Arms'. They have an absolutely beautiful garden out the back, and do really good food.

Experienced the misery of the double puncture on my ride to Folkestone this weekend. Compounded by discovering my knock-off pocket rocket pump wasn't really up to the task. Yet again, thankful for the kindness of strangers, in this case a couple of lads who had a spare tube and a decent pump, which meant I could at least get to the bike shop in Paddock Wood. Annoying as, up until that point, it had been a pleasant, largely traffic-free ride.

Had the privilege of @Marcootsee showing me around the hills in Turin last weekend, went back for a second bite today. Glorious morning, impossibly blue skies, no wind, shaded climbs, so nice.

In England you have tea and cake, in Valencia it’s beer and a sandwich. Fortunately I ate this after the climb up to the monastery.

The thing is, these views are only a small fraction of what you'd ride if you lived here :)
Hoping to go again soon!

Cheeky little ride from Lockton to Scarborough to Whitby to stay in the youth hostel before cycling back to Lockton tomorrow.
Loads of lovey cinder track, lots of rain, but still a laugh.

While i'm at it, this weekend i did an overnighter between Turin and Asti with my partner, picking the sharpest climbs and the loneliest roads. Magical weather and light, it was one of those days

Looks great. What bottles are them?
The Spire & Spoke in Watlington, fairly local to me and highly recommended
