I was chatting to a friend last night and he mentioned he has a MT10 for work now. He said it was pretty good, fast enough, good around town and comfortable although he is only about 5’10” and a wiry build. His would be mainly stop start and fast bitd around town but with occasional longer runs - if it was no good for that he wouldn’t have got it and they usually research suitability a bit first

Sounds like my intended use, but I am 198cm and hefty with it.
Hoping a test drive doesn't underwhelm.
Previously I wanted a new Africa Twin, but the saddle was incredibly narrow and uncomfortable, then the ZZR1400, which was not designed for taller people, my knees had nowhere to go and was very bandy atop it. Rearsets might have sorted that, but I CBA faffing. -

Ducati Desert X is bare tall and looks like a blast to ride? Might be worth a look?
T700 Ténéré or Aprilia Tuareg otherwise perhaps?

Plenty of used GS / GSA 1250 being shopped in at the moment for the 1300s.
Loads of room for tall people and stupid quick.

@jambon @pdlouche thanks for the recommendations.
I’ve been out a few times so far linking Essex green lanes. It’s still a bit of pain. Gotta use the TRF map and using the OSM to match my routes. I’m getting better at navigation, but it’s still irritating bouncing between the two. I can’t find a way to snap to routes.
Mega fun though, REALLY pushes your skill and strength. Fucking ruts though.

That's ultimately why I sold the CRF, felt like quite a few hurdles and miles until you could "ride" the bike. Having said that though some of the best biking I've done was on the green lanes.

@Chak / @hugo7 / anyone else who bought the Motikom headset, I just got Ultimate Ear to laser scan them and create custom ‘gloves’ for them.
They were already great but now they’re even better. More comfortable, better noise isolation. They should be adding them as an option to site soon so you can do the same (with some ear impressions).

Got 45 miles in on the Honda today. My first proper ride on the bike.
It has much wider tyres than my last cb550 and as a result feels reassuringly planted. Oh and standard bars are nice.

Some great images in this thread - Vintage Motorcycle Camping (Pre 1980)
It's got me wondering which bikepacking bags would strap on to the Honda.

I generally use my Apidura fork bags in unintended ways - under pizza rack, or on the rizoma rack on my moto. They’re pretty easy to secure wherever really

Cheers, not dissimilar to my current ride, Triumph Explorer (1215cc)
I like the roominess, and is plenty powerful, just feel like scratching an itch and getting a hyper naked (always fancied a Ducati Monster when I was a younger) -

Get one. Early 900 are best

Would Triumph Scrambler 1200 X be an idea for a jumbo naked?

I'm planning to change the fork seals on my CB550 in a month or so, should I do this by the book, or should I be subbing in a more modern oil?

Cheers.
Looks like an s&m accessory, but they sound like a good addition.

Multistrada?

Fork oil is fork oil - use the weight recommended in the manual unless you're going to modify anything. FWIW, I've fitted emulators to a couple of old damper rod forks and noticed a significant improvement. It's easy to do. New springs can make a real difference too, especially if the old ones feel very soft.

What is in there now? ATF?

It is a bit annoying, though frankly I can’t really complain in the grand scheme of things. It is however, astonishing how much land is private puts things into perspective.
I’ll persevere and go further afield, but tiger is NOT meant to be ridden alone when it gets sketchy that’s for sure.

Anyone have/had a MT10?
Considering one for my next bike, would only be used for mainly short blasts, but occasional 200+ miles motorway blasts (maybe twice a year) and wondering how you got on with it.
There is a used one for sale in a local dealer, I am planning on popping down to for a test drive (and PX quote on my TEX)
