Caring for cromovelato

Posted on
  • Hi,

I'm doing a strip and deep clean of a lovely early '80s Paganini, with red cromovelato. It's in better condition than many others of that vintage. The chrome has cleaned up nicely.

What's the best way to clean and polish old cromovelato? I'd use paint restorer on a normal frame, but I'm painfully aware of how fragile the finish is. I'm wondering about using a fine cleaning putty instead, then a gentle polish, then finally some layers of carnauba.

  • Looks pretty damn good already.

Seriously, I would be inclined to use spit. Enzymes for gentle cleansing, as the ads have it

  • Swissvax regular cleaner fluid or alternative should clean without abrading ?

  • That looks stunning.
