It's not too challenging but getting the guard centered and stopping any rubbing takes on an added dimension because of the knobbles. Here they are on my Rockhopper - the rear wheel is slightly off-true and it's run singlespeed, so whenever I stand on the pedals I occasionally get a bit of rubbing. Otherwise it's just fine!
I've got a new fork with a lower a-c since this picture, so the front guard occasionally rubs too, but never enough to cause consternation.

Cheers. It's been a long time since I last did it. But both time have been 700c with guards I knew would fit.
I've never done 26" with knobblys.
