  • Guess who catnapped someone else's cat last night?

In my defence never seen another russian blue in the area, so thought the cat had some how escaped as I couldn't find her in the flat. But 'my' cat was by the front door when I brought other cat back to the flat. So I returned a pissed off cat back to where I stole it from

EDIT I'm cat sitting and the cat has no collar. All cats look a like

  • Here is the cat

    She is asleep and snoring.

  • 2nd time in 24 hours?

    watch out for social services.

  • Teddy does this, daily, but manages to not break the skin (kicking gets close)

  • That's gold. Reminds me of the one who never sits on my lap; it's so obvious sometimes that different parts of his brain are arguing. He often purrs while swishing, it's hilarious

  • Bunny kicks.

Know a cat that exposes her tummy and loves being tickled and then does this.

The bunny kicks, involve no claws just play. It is cute IMO.

  • For the last 10 years or so we've had a pair of rabbits. The last died of old age the other week. We'd like to have a couple of cats next (I used to have cats a few decades ago) but won't get them just yet as we are having renovation work done to our house that won't be complete until the new year. There will be a front door and back patio doors to the house once the work is done but nothing that would really suit a cat flap. We could have a Wall Cat Flap built into the new rear wall of the house - see https://closerpets.co.uk/collections/wall-cat-flaps?srsltid=AfmBOorRedegls0sM3diN2aIzJi4Ja6iYk-F6nvZshSMXyPjmwJNHwzQ . Does anyone have experience of these systems (pros and cons)? Or, do we just open the doors for the animals when they want to go in and out?

  • We use the "open the door for the animals" method.

It has pros and cons. Our previous cat used to knock on the door with her paw which was really cute, but the current two haven't learned that and just miaow for "let me in" and "let me out".

Pros include that it limits the amount of time they are wandering about killing wildlife or otherwise getting into trouble, and that we don't get enemy cats breaking in through the cat flap.

Cons include that their personal liberties are a bit restricted, and it can be annoying to have to open the door half a dozen times in an evening, and sometimes they get locked out by accident.

  • Also, we don't let them out the front as they don't have car sense. It is a bit tricky to stop them sneaking out, at times.

  • This is Rhea. Had her 18 months since the first pic. Got her from a rescue centre (her mum was rehomed the same day elsewhere). Who would abandon that

  • Thanks for that - really helpful. I think I'd rather let them in and out so I know where they are. Like you, front door is unlikely to a reasonable option but currently the cats are hypothetical so who knows how sensible they'll be!

  • so cute!

like a younger, thinner version of our Schmeekers (aka Nico)

  • Hah indeed. I imagine she's far more of a runt though bless her. Think she's just over 3kg and isn't likely to grow more

  • Any suggestions for training an adult cat (recently rehomed from being a stray all his life) how to come inside via the cat flap?

He knows the way out, but then thinks there's no way in other than via the door.
He doesn't like to be grabbed and manhandled either...

  • I've got one of those too!

  • Also the owner of a former stray who hates being picked up here.

We used Dreamies to entice ours through whilst holding it open. We also realised the drop to the step on the outside was too deep so made him a little step up and now he uses it.

  • Tie a scrap of paper into a length of string, catch his notice with it, and pull it through.

  • Ours comes in but won’t go out. Maybe we can organise a skills swap

  • Anyone know if there is some kind of hunting season at the moment ? Bubbles (who is admittedly a bit of a twat) is really on a roll - in the last two weeks we’ve had - live robin minus tail feathers in the lounge - live rat up the curtains later disemboweled on the stairs. Dead blackbird on the doorstep and another dead mouse this morning. We’re locking the catflap .

  • Oh hai

  • Mid beans cleans 😂

  • Aww she's beautiful

  • It does look that way, but he just randomly sat that way for a good five minutes before I took the pic and a good while after too 🤪
