  • decathalon has 38c terreno dry’s for £15

    Non tubeless version

  • I would never ever promote a tubeless lifestyle, it's expensive and immoderate

  • although it does explain why they went on so easily

  • Anyone here ride the first round of WMCCL?

Very grassy and undulating course absolutely kicked my ass, but I did have tonnes of fun. Will try and make a few more rounds this year.

The bike was dialed, 11-32 cassette was a good choice and 35 gravelkings were a treat at 30psi. Really handled well.

  • Missed the first one Josh but glad you make it...silly question...can you run 35? isn't 700x33 a cyclocross rule?
Hopefully I can have a go in the next ones but depends on work shifts :(

  • ..silly question...can you run 35? isn't 700x33 a cyclocross rule?

The 33 mm width rule only applies to UCI ranked races. Which in the UK mainly means the National Trophy and National Championship races (and even then only at junior and elite levels).

  • Oh nice to know.... thanks!

  • No problem! Don't tell anyone, but I ran 700x38 for my first race of the London League.

  • previous non-national races I did either in Germany and in Italy we were checked with a caliper at the start to have max 700x33 which didn't happen here in the UK but I think I should start reading better the race manuals :P

  • Is there an advantage to running wider tyres? I thought the narrow tyres were supposed to cut through the mud better? (vs trying to float over the mud)

  • More grip on less muddy courses.

35s were a great option for this course which was 100% grassy 😭

  • Drop me a text when you can!

I'll try and make the Studley and Merdian races as they are within 30min drive 👍

  • Ok! i'll!

  • I was there, plodding my way around at the back of vet race. Was heading for 3rd last until I fell over in the one muddy corner.

  • I'm off games at the moment, but took my lad down for the U10 race - which was a bit of a step-up for him from the U8's. I am genuinely shocked at the level of kit that pretty much all the other kids had - plenty of carbon, Oakley, SPDs etc etc. He was massively out of his depth on 20" wheels and crocs, the poor guy.

Have you removed all of the grass out of your rear mech yet?! Took me ages to clean his bike!

  • Aye, the amount of kit some of the youngsters had was insane. Nice for them to have but also not teaching them much and setting too high of a standard, imo.

Have you removed all of the grass out of your rear mech yet

Well, I had some insider info and kept my drivetrain bone dry and it picked up nothing! A tip for next time :)

  • Respect for turning up and getting round!

    Better than most.

  • Wax chain benefits:
    1% speed
    1% reduced wear
98% not needing to clean everything after riding for 5 minutes

  • Me!

Was great to see so many people out and see Evie take the win in the women’s. I was seriously impressed by my mates daughter taking fourth not far behind too!

The women had to race on tougher conditions than then men, really dried out between the two events, which wa a great for me as my second set of wheels on baby Limus’ wouldn’t hold air so grifo it was…

Only my rear wasn’t holding air and n that set either! Two toots on a pump as I dragged myself around, finishing on a flat for ~20th in the vets race.

Very happy with new bike though, having snapped a dropout on ye olde kinesis it’s amazing how much buzz the Boone takes out!

  • Having swapped my bikes around I think my cx season may be very limited due to the dogs arrival :-(

  • I don't want to upset you @GoatandTricycle but since our dog arrived in January I think I've ridden my bike 14 times max this year.

  • We’re coming up to three years of dog ownership and I’m the fittest I’ve been in that period I think.

  • the dog is a right fat bastard tho

  • What was year one like?
